Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Hey Tommy, I have a couple of questions about the bizarre page filled with hundreds of anti-Amico memes (whose URL shall not be posted here)...

 

1) Are you really sure it was created by the user with the Space Channel 5 avatar in AtariAge or is it just a suspicion? I remember this person used to post memes in this topic ridiculing the family-oriented aspects of the Amico through fake covers of fictional Amico video games. One of the last messages of this user in Atari Age, deleted by the mods, was in a Classic Gaming thread with a title similar to "Your traumas in games". After being banned from the Q&A topic and also receive several warnings from personally attacking you in the "Another Atari console other than Ataribox" (AKA "Taco") thread, this person commented on that "Traumas" topic to say that he/she had a trauma with "the CEO of Intellivision" because Tommy had "attacked him" (i. e. responded to his/her attacks). Do you think it could be him/her (or do you know for sure)?

 

2) What do you mean by "could be easily taken down legally"? Have they done something illegal?

Caterpillar (Big Yellow) is celebrating their 95th anniversary this year, and they used their equipment to build and play a giant Pac-Man game. They partnered with Bandai Namco and there are others in the series.

 

Could be an interesting concept for a building-hybrid game.

That you are not allowed to register URL’s of registered company’s names, to avoid having people registering all kinds of URL’s with big company names and then hold it for “ransom”. So if/when IE wish to, they only need to file a claim to get the URL from them.

Maybe this was already mentioned but does the vintage woodgrain Amico have real wood?  Or is it painted to look real?  Tommy probably answered this before in a post or video.

It's plastic. I believe during the early August live event, he had some samples and was having attendees express a preference for whether they liked the shinier glossy finish or the matte. I'm not sure which won out, although it seemed like more people voted matte, and the latest images I've seen seem to look more like the matte.

@squirrelgotdead is right about the plastic although I think Tommy said that people in real life prefer the gloss so they may go with that. Of course it may still be up in the air since they won't go into production until closer to December. One other note, it isn't paint either. I believe they mold a laminate directly onto the plastic during the injection molding process. That is why specialty editions like the wood grain and galaxy purple cost more than just a simple color. The glacier white and graphite black are just colored resins mixed directly into the plastic, which is a lot simpler.

Okay, yeah.  I recall the matte & glossy discussion.  The part I forgot about was it being plastic, and that is fine with me.

We have a lot of fun in the forum here with the whole "Wouldn't That Be Something?™"  thing.

I'm pretty sure most folks understand the nature of it and that we're all just having a little fun.

I think one of the issues with some of these stalker folks is that they want so bad to try and catch me on something... that their common sense goes out the window.

Like I always say... so great to know that they find us this interesting and spend hours every day thinking about us.

 

Hopefully Tony/GeekGetaway can finally release himself of this pattern now that he can't talk about me or Amico anymore.

Maybe he can move over to the VCS!  I read and watch those videos!

I remember it's been said that people will be able to play the amico before they buy it. How is that gonna happen? I imagine having some kind of Booth or kiosk in a store would be expensive to rent out that space. Someone else can answer this if Tommy has already, I don't read this board that often.

I know this has been mentioned already, but I gotta say I'm really surprised to find the haters in every single video, even during the live interviews that Tommy records.

 

Many of us here have preordered the Amico and, even if we don't blindly like/agree with 100% of what they do, support the console and want the team to be successful. For many of us here, the Amico is the only interesting console in 15 years... and we don't attend every single live interview! I rarely connect to a live interview, to be honest. And many of the haters do! It's incredible.

 

I just wanted to say this because, when I saw TonyTGD/TheGeekGetaway commenting on that live interview to try to have a gotcha moment (and failing), it was almost funny. I mean, it looked like some kind of parody, that situation fits better in a comedy movie with exaggerated attitudes from the characters.

Those guys have become such a soap opera I can’t deal with it anymore. After a months away from the ding dongs, I see Squealer, who’s changed his name for the sixth time, complains you said he’s lying about being a founder when just last month he pretended to be one of the big Amico supporters, KS1, and harass another big Amico supporter. So, that was pretty dishonest. Then Phobic is trying to defend that he’s actually a good guy when during the special event he said you were faking choking up about your sister so he didn’t feel bad for you. That is not good, that is sociopathic. Everything they say is just about getting their lulz now, they have no ethical high ground to stand on and they know it. Everything they say is B.S. Now he probably enjoys being mentioned so that is it for spotlighting anyone.

Recently he was trying to self promote himself on Reddit by spamming other subreddits and claiming the main r/Amico subreddit banned any user who doesn't like the Amico. I pinned a post on r/Amico showing screen shots that there was (and still are) exactly *two* users who have been banned from r/Amico. You might be able to guess one of them. I have other stories but I won't discuss moderation activities for individual users on r/Amico.

 

Overall my experience with Tony can be summed up by the old saying: "he is so crooked that when he dies, they will have to screw him into the ground"

Ks1/Tony k is one of the original people who started turning me off the Amico all his homophobic insults and doing what we always complain they do using multiple accounts makes amico fans look toxic. I actually believe he himself is a hater doing it on purpose. People who support Amico don't want to call this out but I'm not afraid to say what we all know. And if you tell me they are not the same person then you yourself are being dishonest.

One person, whatever, they are the same person but just parodying the others’ crazy negative behavior as satire. He’s not meaning it to be serious, obviously. It doesn’t change someone pretending to be him to harass Amico supporters.
