Hopefully we get an update about more Imagic games coming to Amico.

I’m hoping that Amico will also include the old Imagic Intellivision games along with the reimagined Imagic games.  It would be cool if they could find a way to incorporate Imagic’s original box art in some way.  Maybe they could even carry the theme of old game/new game and old/new box art with other third party titles (INTV, Activision, Parker Brothers, Coleco, Sega, etc.)

Tommy,

I know I mentioned Keychains for the IE shop.  Maybe there can be Puffy keychain.

Just another thought... maybe the Blue Sky Rangers would consider coming out with a nice coffee table book chronicling the history of the Intellivision that would include all Intellivision and third party games and artwork, hardware, software, things that were worked on but never released and info about the designers. Working title for this book could be, “In Hal We Trust”.

Oh, another collectible idea... what about pewter Amico collectible coins? On the Amico side you could have Tommy’s image and on the opposite side you could have Keith Robinson for Intellivision.  Other coins could have one face with Amico designers with their games and the opposite face could be Intellivision designers with their games.  To reflect marketing you could have George Plimpton representing Intellivision.  Since the internet is the new way to advertise, the other side could be one of the many website content providers.  Maybe have a contest to see whose image would be for Amico.

Pewter is too soft.  Look up challenge coins; much more durable, colorful and way more detail options in the designs.  Its been a while since I looked into making one of these, but a run of 2000 is in the neighborhood of about $6 each (+artwork, +RFID??? 😁).  Higher runs result in lower per unit costs due to the tooling.  I’ve personally got some very cool & limited ones, all but one is related to work, and each and every one represents something special.

Tommy, Wolfy or any one else here, If we ever get the chance to hook up, I’ll bring a couple of special ones to show you.

Tommy, you did not refer to the text passage with about 26 games a year. I honestly would hope for a lot more (of course quality stuff only). I believe that you said somewhere else you could land eventually at a new game release every third day or so. So what can we suspect? As not everything is intersting for everyone (e.g. not everyone will love the stuff for children) I would love to see more in the direction of around 100 releases a year or so. 😉

Our plan initially is to start out slow and see how the eco-system is being used.  Learn from what the data and feedback (and gut!) tells us and then adjust from there.

So it's hard to say exactly what our future plans will be in regards to titles... but I do think that 100 games a year are too much and overwhelming for the average non-gamer... and could start to suck for our developers.

So we do need to be careful.  We don't have an exact plan just yet... need to learn from how people are using and reacting to our initial eco-system.

Second question: Your actual model seems to be a kind of second party concept, with maybe EWJ being the first true first party game? Am I Right here? Do you consider buying or founding additional studios later on and make them producing titles that even stand out a little more (like the first party games from Nintendo, Sony and so on)?

It's all really a hybrid.  Every game falls somewhere between 1st & 2nd party as Intellivision is providing certain design aspects, audio, programming and art.

Yes... we have talked about it (and also greatly increases the value of the company & brand) that it would be great if we ended up acquiring some of the great studios we've been working with to give them even more dedicated resources.

Here some questions for Tommy from jbfeelings Drinumist (he is on chat on the Amico All Access but doesn't have an account here):

#1 Any prospects for Duck Hunt or a Duck Hunt like game for the Amico?

I don't think so.

That would also be a little tough for me considering I'm a big supporter of animal rights.

I understand that games like Duck Hunt are all in good fun.  So there may be something out there that could fit.  Just nothing on the plate right now.

Shooting extremely huge spiders in Night Stalker or rats/snakes in Cloudy Mountain is one thing... it's "fantasy".

Hunting for ducks or deer is something different (for me anyway).  I understand my views on this subject are not the norm.  It's just a personal thing for me.  A "hunting" game would be tough for me.

#2 Is Video Games Live coming anywhere close to Arkansas next year?

Nothing planned just yet.  Schedule is still way up in the air with all live entertainment due to COVID.

Here is the update...

More are coming!!

:D

Microsurgeon, Demon Attack, Safe Cracker and Beauty & the Beast are the 4 at the top of the list.  Dragonfire and Tropical Trouble towards the top as well.

A few of them may even be in production now (well... you know that one of them is as we showed it last year).

:)

Will there be any homebrew games that will be reimagined for Amico? Will Amico help and encourage the homebrew market for their system?

Yep!  In fact we're working on 2 of them currently!

YES!  Love the homebrew community and have always been very supportive (especially with my wallet!).

:)

Count on it!!!!!!!

We are using a lot of the original box art for things whenever we can and where it makes sense.  Even some "retro re-imagined" art as well!

:)

Great to see perspectives from folks around the world.  He was very optimistic about Amico and what we're doing.  Very cool.

So here is something that is a big issue for amico that I'm curious what the answer to it will be. I was talking to the owner of a pawn shop this weekend, and he said parents are always buying Wii's and PlayStation 3's for their young kids. You can buy both for under $50 and you can buy the games 2 for $5. So this is a lot cheaper than the amico, and even though the games are old they are new to a 4/5 year old. And z lot of people have these consoles and just buy the games. What is the advantage of these parents buying an Amico over older consoles with more in depth games that also don't feature DLC or have to worry about them downloading mature games? These pawn shops have tons of these games to choose from at the same price point. To me this is where graphics do matter because why not just play older simpler cheaper consoles?
