Tommy Tallarico - Fun Amico Conversations

The Amico subforum is now full of troll threads, with weird people obsessed with the Amico creating 4-5 threads every day and accusing mods of unfairly banning users from this thread.

@jaybird3rd @Albert Are you sure this is how you wanted the Amico subforum of Atari Age to be? Because it honestly is anything but inviting for a person positively interested in the system.

Why should AtariAge be in the business of keeping people "positively" interested in the Intellivision Amico? It is an unbiased forum is it not? If so, then discussions about anything to do with the console and company should be able to be discussed. If someone wants to post about how excited they are for the console and the games and how they can't wait etc, then great, they should be able to do that as they currently are doing. If however, someone wants to discuss negative aspects of the console and company, and any criticisms they have, then great, they should be allowed to do that just as much.

If I went into the Switch or Playstation sections and started telling everyone that they should only be positive, and that people posting negative things are affecting how people are interested in the system, that would be a bit weird wouldn't it? Why would I care if people are positively or negatively interested in those systems? AtariAge is a forum for things to be discussed, both good and bad, so I don't understand why this "positive things only!!!" attitude applies to the Intellivison Amico.

Playstation forums allow negative discussions about Playstation. Nintendo forums allow negative negative discussions about Nintendo. Xbox forums allow negative discussions about Xbox. Yet an Atari forum must contain a 100% positive attitude about an Intellivision console? That's quite weird to me, and makes me wonder why that is the case. I see you recently made a post saying how you would not play a PS5 even if you were given one for free, please don't do that again, it might put people off buying one.

I got my package for the 8 games today.  They came in a box and were secured in bubble wrap, which is good.  Now if only the Amico was out.  I can't wait to try these games.

Got my games today too really enjoyed getting to open them

Here we go yet again…. Apparently you want us to believe you just don’t get it.  I think you do, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and will assume that you’re just not real bright.

Lets say you want to have a group of vegan friends over to your house for dinner, watch the movie Cars and talk about a setting up a group camping trip, but someone shows up uninvited (picture Rodney Dangerfield), brings steaks, a stack of porn and a bunch of ants.

This threads intent is for those excited about Amico to have a space to have fun with things Amico (check the thread name).  There are other threads just one little level up where you and others can have all  the discussions you want (you can even title them to reflect the intent of the thread, imagine that).

Do you typically go into other topics for the sake of causing disruption, or are we special?  Do you regularly go to Jack in the Box and order Big Mac’s, just for fun?  Do you regularly change up your disguise and go back to the same Jack in the Box?

Is there anything you can share on the longevity of being able to transfer RFID games long into the future?  Is the ability tied to IE remaining business, or does the blockchain reside outside of and separately from IE?

That type of info is something I’m waiting to hear, as well, as it is something that directly impacts whether or not I'll shoot for a 100% physical collection, or only pick up digital copies of the game I wanna play.   Not specifically just the part about transferring, though –   Mostly, I’m curious to know what steps are in place to ensure these games will work in the future at all?  For example, if I buy a 100% physical collection, store them like the hoarder/collector that some of us are known to be – will they even be playable 20 years from now if I try to play them for the first time, and servers are gone and/or the future’s version on the internet no longer works with Amico?  Or we will be collecting, buying, selling boxes of trinkets but no games?

I had asked some time back, and got an answer like “we have something in place that everyone will be happy with,” which is cool and all, but now that they’re for sale, seems like something that should be ok to share with us folk interested in buying.

Well in seem that some people just don't get some simple concepts like "don't post off topic in a forum thread", even after they have been told over and over again what the problem is. Instead it they feel it is their god given right to do whatever they want at the inconvenience of others 🙄

In related news, here is another item *some* seem to not grasp: "there is a world wide parts shortage/transportation snafu". Just saw this post from a Facebook friend who is *still* waiting for a simple car part to get back on the road again. The comments below the picture was filled with people waiting for a replacement airbag, elevator part for their church, a thing to fix their freezer and even a piano.

I do agree with that you're saying, but in all fairness to SteveColecoDude in this particular case, he and the user he replied to were actually talking about those other threads, not this one, which kinda goes along with what you're saying there.

I dunno y'all, other than the bunch of ants, that sounds like things improved GREATLY!  😁   RIP Rodney!

Yeah... I totally understand that.  A lot of folks said the same thing about Astrosmash as well.  To watch a trailer and experiencing it as a whole... it starts to look a little crazy.

But when you play the game and are only focused on your own character/player, etc. it's a BIG difference.

That was exactly my experience - it took just a couple of seconds for me to find my cross hairs in Missile Command in relation to the touch screen. From then on out I just tracked around in my own little world of targeting missiles, defending bases and deploying power ups. Basically the on screen complexity also gets divided up along all the players so it is far less than you might expect.

The atariage forum guidelines actually call for positivity.  Criticisms should be constructive.  This applies to the entirety of Atariage, not just this thread.

"When creating new topics or responding to an existing thread, please try to be positive, constructive, polite, and on topic. We do not censor opinions or ideas on our forums but we do take action against posts and/or topics that could cause unrest in the community beyond a civil and polite disagreement."

I agree.

Also, its at the discretion of “atari age”.     One mans comment many deem as negative, may not be negative to another.   Same thing for positive.

The main point is to “keep peace” on the forums, no name calling, doxxing, cursing each other out, personal attacks, and similar type actions.

Many have done this im sure, including me. Lets make a fresh start.

Great.. Now I'm hungry for Jack in the Box...   Thanks @Starpaddler..  :P Like the Amico and the games,  I have to wait for that too..  Rumor has it that we are getting Jack back in the Salt Lake area after a 20(30?)+ year absence.

Not much of a wait on the games.  My package should be here tomorrow.

Will there be a Star Wars game for the Amico?

I haven't seen one announced.

Along those lines, the menu screen art for Astrosmash, kind of, reminds me of "The Last Starfighter". Does Astrosmash have a "Death Blossom" attack?

I can’t interpret that picture. Looks like he’s being attacked by a giant robot crab climbing up over his knee.

The Last Starfighter came out when I was 3, so I'll always have a soft spot for it.

The plot of that movie sort of reminds me of a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book, which only makes it more awesome.

OMG! I loved those choose your own adventure books. I wonder if they could do a choose your own adventure game, where different players vote for the next step in the adventure.

That's an interesting idea.  There were some games from "Tell Tale" that were essentially stories with branching plots, etc. Something like that could be interesting for parents and young readers.
