Tommy Tallarico - Fun Amico Conversations

@bigdaddygamestudio Yes, it does matter because that multi million dollars ad campaign. Will go against Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo multi multi multi million ad campaigns for the ps5/xbox series x/ switch ads.

So, Tommy is going to rely heavily on retro gamers to help the amico. That is why he is doing so many interviews with game channels. He needs the free promotion and wants retro gamers hype. So, if he angers the retro gamers with rhetoric, misleading sells tactics, and unprofessional behavior. Than the amico will be in huge trouble.

The 12k preorders are by retro gamers not soccer moms. Soccer moms could careless about a new Earthworm Jim, Ecco the Dolphin, etc retro gamers are the ones hype.

When it comes to expensive products people will likely need 1 of 2 things. They need to try them for themselves first and/or have heard good/great things via word of mouth. Times may change but word of mouth is still by far the best marketing tool EVER.  Now with the internet word of mouth gets a little less personal and IMHO the less personal it is, the less effective it is. If my brother buys an Amico and says it great, Im buying it the next day.  If some you tuber I watch say its great, well I take that under advisement.

So with a new product like amico, the big obstacle is trying to get enough product out there in order to get this ball of good word of mouth moving.  This is what I think Tommy is doing as we speak. That is what the FE and pre orders are, its seeding.  My business partners are big on the book called RavingFans.  The philosophy is that it you do a great job with your customers, they will in turn, turn into your best sales people. There is a lot of validity to it. I make a nice living and some of my best sales people are govt employees who love our stuff and basically sell it for us to their peers.  Amico is no different.  To be honest if the Amico is as good as I hope it is, I have no problem being a Raving Fan for them.

you misunderstand, When I say go against, I meant to target or mention Nintendo, AMico wont do that in their advertising. They are going after the 2 BILLION causal gamers, the ps5/xbox etc can continue to go after the 200 million hard core gamers etc.  Two distinct markets.  Nintendo crossed into the casual with the Wii, the switch, not as much.

@grudgeq Let me be clear. People on kickstarter expects value in return for their money i.e. whatever they funded. Fig.co investors expect something in return for their money i.e. equity. Neither party are just giving their money away.

No I am not grasping at straws because Tommy said several times he is not the Ouya he is not asking money from the general public. Then don't. Just take preorders only. Tommy is the one grasping at straws complaining about a few mature games on Nintendo, making it out to be the norm.

And the fact that Tommy was able to raise 20-30 million dollars is great. But don't make it out to be some phenomenal feet. On CNBC American Greed, people raise money like that all the time. And no, I am not saying Tommy is conning his investors like they do on that show.

Again multiple rounds have been offered - as with every VC funded company - to which any qualified investor can subscribe. The only difference is that Fig.co allows a lower minimum of investment because they aggregate the amounts. Much like brokerage firms which allow purchase of less than 100 shares or even fractional purchase of high priced stocks. The general public are consumers - fig.co is for investors. Just try to wade through the requirements & legalese on that site to do an investment and you will find it isn’t “general public” oriented at all.

I wasn't holding up their funding raising as a big feat - you said that. The fact you had no idea where they got their money from for game development in your question above means you clearly have no idea of the scope of their financing or anything else. Was just point out some facts so you might get a clue about what is going on.

Obviously you are interested in nothing about that and are just trying to find some weak side topics to shore

up your core argument that Tommy should not be pointing out the actual state of the Nintendo policy on sex & violence in their system. You trivialize the most lax set of rules in the industry as “a few adult games”. Fine we have all heard your policy of “silence above truth” dozens of times now & your time wasting side arguments petty much based on ignorance and your “valuable” opinion. Go peddle your time wasting hack elsewhere.

I am fairly convinced you are just trolling this tread to get a rise out of the posters here, but on the off chance you are not I will take a shot at answering this.

Amico is finding its place in the gaming world, while there is some content for the retro-gamers (which is a group I am in), the main focus for the console is in being family friendly, easy to play, and offering couch co-op. It is not just another retro-console, and Tommy is working very hard to avoid his system being pigeonholed and misidentified as being just another retro console.

Which brings us to point two. Tommy is not attacking Nintendo. What he is attacking is the repeated statements that Nintendo is already family friendly, and offers good couch co-op, making the Amico redundant. I am certain there is a fair bit of content that meets these two criteria, but there is also a lot of M-content games, single player and online-only multiplayer games. Meaning parents still have to sort though and vet what their kids are playing and seeing from Nintendo.

The Amico is 100% E or E10 games only. Which is a huge difference from Nintendo. So there is no worry about a kid somehow viewing or accessing mature content; it is impossible because there not any to be had on an Amico.

He also has never changed the definition of an exclusive game. Right from the start he said a title is either exclusive to the Amico, or it will offer exclusive content only available to the Amico. At no time did he say there would never be ports, only that there would never be ports without some content exclusive for the system.

He is trying to market to soccer moms. Which is exactly why he is vocal in taking on comments stating his console is just another retro machines, or that Nintendo already does everything he is offering. He is trying to bring something new and different to the console market. If it is to succeed he needs to highlight what the Amico offers that the 'competitors' do not. Correcting misinformation and willful misunderstandings being put out there is not attacking anyone.

Otherwise when he does start the advertising in earnest, he will be fighting existing wrongful preconceptions that the Amico is just another flashback or a console for playing flash mobile games.

No hes definitely trolling.  He does it on YouTube.  Even if you have detailed facts. They dont matter. Fig investments is a good example.

@grudgeq  Sorry, you are wasting my time. I never wanted or asked for your opinion in the first place. I was talking to someone else. Then you felt the need to involve yourself in the discussion.

And yes individuals have giving money to the amico as part of an investment. Smash JT and other youtubers said they gave money to be invested. My point was don't take money from the public. Then bad mouth the Ouya, Atari VCS, etc.

P.S. Don't involve yourself in someone else's discuss. Then complain about having your time wasted.

@relic gamer Oh please, you should be the last person talking about trolling. How many times have you gone on dorkalicious youtube channel to voice your opinion.

I came here to talk to Tommy. And tell him the problems with the amico.

Excuse me, but this is an open discussion thread, and everyone here is free to comment on anything that anyone else says.  If you don't want your comments to be read or responded to except by specific individuals, you should send those individuals a PM instead.

You continue to miss the point that the Amico's business model is nothing like the Ouya, Atari VCS, or any other examples that the critics keep dragging out.  The Ouya and Atari VCS were *crowdfunded* (according to the rational definition of the word that everyone else here seems to understand).  Those projects were entirely dependent on the backers' money.  The Amico was going to be released whether there were preorders or not.  Use the search function and re-read the (many) earlier posts which have explained all this multiple times; come back only after you've done your due diligence.

@Tavi I am not trolling. I directed my first comments to Tommy. My main intention was to talk to Tommy in an area where he felt more comfortable. I didn't start jumping on anyone's threads. Trying to get a rise out of anyone. I just been responding to comments directed at me.

@jaybird3rd  I was only responding to a person saying how I was wasting their time. I never started a conversation with that person. I only replied to comments that were directed towards me. I replied to his comments, only to have him say I am wasting his time. This why I made that quote.

Doesn't matter.  Once you post your thoughts in a public forum, anyone is and should be free to respond to them.

@relic gamer  We can ask dorkalicious how civil that convo was. I only talk to dorkalicious. You responded to me. Just like you did on the Geek channel. I never said you don't have a right to voice your opinion. Just if someone respond don't call them a troll.

@bigdaddygamestudio The reason that the Switch has not taken a bigger market share of the hypercasual gamer is because of smartphones and tablets. However, this shows that they are gaining momentum

So can we all get you on the record that the Amico isnt crowdfunded? And move on

I've read your negative trash here and on YouTube for the past few weeks.

I don't care what your problems with Amico are.  Go shout them to your echo chamber with the same 5 immature hater folks on YouTube you always comment with.

There is nothing I can say that the folks here haven't already told you.  You're too biased to listen to any reason or facts.  Your only mission here is to try and disrupt... not to have a conversation where you listen to a different opinion other than your own.  You've dismissed every great and factual point that anyone here has made.

I'm done wasting my time and dealing with people like you.  You don't deserve my attention.

I ignore you on YouTube and I'll ignore you here.

You seem insistent on trying to set the terms of the conversations here.  That's not how discussion forums work.  You cannot come to an open forum like this one for the purpose of talking to specific individual(s) and then dictate how everyone else is permitted to respond to you.  Please re-read our community guidelines, which you agreed to abide by when you signed up as a member here, and please refrain from attempting to dominate the discussions.

But I know that you are more comfortable here. So, I am here. I am ready to talk all things amico. I am a potential customer with other retro gaming friends. Explain to me why their are no problems with the amico.

@juice @relic gamer. If you take money from the general public. That is crowd funding. You can change the verbiage to investing. It is the same thing. For @bigdaddygamestudio the reason why Tommy is still taking money even thou development is done because he needs to raise money for future games.

Remember, potential game developers will have their games funded by Tommy. Where are those funds coming from????

‘If you take money from the general public. That is crowd funding.“

So are all pre-orders crowd funding?  If I pre-order a movie or CD from Amazon, is that crowd funding?   What about the $200 I spent on a Switch light; crowd funded? Is the investments I make into a 401K crowd funding?  if so, than what is purchasing or investing?

Crowd Funding - Crowdfunding is the use of small amounts of capital from a large number of individuals to finance a new business venture. Crowdfunding makes use of the easy accessibility of vast networks of people through social media and crowdfunding websites to bring investors and entrepreneurs together, with the potential to increase entrepreneurship by expanding the pool of investors beyond the traditional circle of owners, relatives and venture capitalists.

pre·or·der
/prēˈôrdər/

verb
verb: pre-order
  1. order (an item of merchandise) before it is available, with the understanding that it will be shipped later.
"click on the link below to preorder the DVD"

noun
noun: pre-order
  1. an order for an item that has not yet been made commercially available.
"preorders have already put the book at the top of the bestseller lists"

    What Is an Investment?

An investment is an asset or item acquired with the goal of generating income or appreciation. In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth. In finance, an investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide income in the future or will later be sold at a higher price for a profit.

Amico has VC’s, a design, a fabricator, attorneys, marketing budget, developers, executive team that includes industry pillars, etc.  Look at the above definitions and tell us all again Amico is crowd funded and not a simple pre-order and shred yourself of any remaining legitimacy you may have.

Coming here to talk "man to man" has nothing to do with being unbiased.  Lots of people have signed up here specifically for the purpose of trolling someone ... but they tend not to last, because we don't put up with that kind of behavior for long.

1 minute ago, Ez G said:

I doubt it.  You've been talking "all things Amico" for a few pages now, and every time someone addressed a point that you raised, you ignored their counterarguments and immediately moved on to another point, or reiterated the same point over and over as if nobody said anything.  Somehow, I don't think you'll be lined up on Day One to be the first in your town to own an Amico, after harboring such a negative attitude toward it that you've spent who knows how much time writing critical comments here and on YouTube.

1 minute ago, Ez G said:

Perhaps they've said you're "wasting their time" because you raised specific points, they took the time to thoroughly address them, and you've willfully refused to listen.  If that isn't a waste of time, I don't know what is; the fact that you didn't give them an engraved invitation to respond to your posts doesn't change anything in the slightest.

Our community guidelines state that, "when an individual member repeatedly disrupts threads in a negative fashion, that member will be warned."  Consider yourself duly warned.  Please do not continue this behavior or we will have to take steps.

Urinating Competitions like these need something akin to sports commentary / play by play.

"He's gotta change his game plan, Ralph.  He keeps throwing that same weak jab, and it's just not landing.  If he could just switch it up a bit, maybe he can get back in this."

"They keep knocking him down with logic but he just keeps bouncing back up!!!  How much more can this troll take?!?!"
