Factor 5 brings back Turrican. They will be at the Gamescom Pre Show. I don`t know if they made a remake or a new one or an emulated version. Publisher is Strictly Limited. Platforms I think will be Switch and PS4 cause there the Publisher released all their games.

Webpage: https://www.strictlylimitedgames.com/

Turrican games that would have been something for Amico also.

But who knows... They searched long for a possibility to bring it back and seems now its happening.

Our European president Hans is VERY good friends with the Turrican folks.

Just sayin'.

(i.e. It's not a "Wouldn't That Be Something?" status just yet).

I would have agreed, if it weren’t for the fact that it is very hard to give valuable constructive criticism until you can experience the final product, since so many factors are still unknown, including how many of the games will look and play. And just because you prefer the Cloudy Mountain style over Astrosmash, doesn’t mean that the rest of the world does, so that is more a personal opinion than a constructive criticism. No individual game or art style will make or break this console’s success, it will be the unique gameplay experience that will either succeed or fail to appeal to the non/casual gamers, if it also manage to appeal to the hardcore gamers is a bonus.

Fantastic point which I touched on a little in my response.

I think the bottom line being that we offer a wide variety of graphics because we are targeting a more wide variety of people and demographics.  But our most important element (no matter what the demographic is) will be FUN.

No sensor bar on Amico currently.  Too costly to add at this time.  Maybe something we could add later though.  It's not impossible.  Could be an add-on.

At first, this was something I was also missing as I liked that feature on the Wii, but then when I saw/realized that the touch screen on the controllers can be used to move a cursor around the screen as easily by moving the thumb around on the touch screen, I had no more worries, unless there is some other situation where the sensor bar would be useful??

Damn... well that subject didn't stay dead for long.

:)

Thanks for the link.  Just watched.  As always, they once again got a LOT of things wrong in that video.  Once again they referenced me (which is the only reason I'm responding to this).  He says "certain CEO's think just because the average spend on mobile is $93 means everyone does that".  Then goes on to explain that I must not understand math and how it works.  This of course after complaining the NFC report is $3,000 (i.e. he doesn't even know the breakdown and what the report or statistics are).  Well buddy... I have the report and many others like it and know exactly what it says and how it breaks down.  I legally can't publish the material, but I can tell you that most of what he declares as fact is nothing more than his misinformed opinion. Like usual, he reads a story on the internet in real time and without doing any research what-so-ever just starts mouthing off as if he's an expert before taking some kind of cheap dig at me and Amico.

Here's a comment someone sent me a few months ago...

2043872597_Patmobile.thumb.jpg.e1d88e2b2b69dfd30ca7543b33f03c60.jpg

So, what everyone has known for 6+ years and he denied... now he walks back and moves the goalposts.

Kinda like when he said Amico will never be able to get game developers, Amico will never sell more than 5,000 units, Amico will never have major distributors and sold in retail, Intellivision doesn't have a working machine that shows people playing our controller with a game, etc., etc.

Here are some REAL facts.  A "whale" or "Big Spenders" as they are referred to in reports, are people who spend more than $25 PER MONTH on mobile.  That is $300 a year.  Those folks are a very small majority.  Under 3% of all mobile gamers worldwide (2.8% if you want to be exact).  Domestically here in the U.S., there are around 6.5 million people in that category.  So, do the simple math.  If there are 3 billion folks playing mobile and under 3% of them are spending currently around $400 ($400 is the average for a "whale).  How can anyone say that the other 97% of mobile players aren't spending much money?  How could the AVERAGE money spent per year per person on mobile be $90+ then?  His math (like most of his comments on the subject) aren't even close to adding up or making sense.  So whose the one that doesn't understand math and averages now?   :D

Again, he's just throwing out biased uniformed opinions about a subject matter he knows nothing about while scoffing at anyone who would be crazy enough to pay $3,000 for the professional report.

Here's something else you may not be aware of...

Globally, 67% of mobile Big Spenders are male with the majority aged 21-35. More interestingly, they spend big cross-screen, with 71% of them also spending big on console and 69% also spending big on PC. This is in stark contrast with the average mobile gamer, of whom 11% spend big on console and only 8% spend big on PC.

So... what else does this tell us?  That the overwhelming majority of "whales" are hardcore gamers.  And is Amico interested in targeting those folks?

No.  Not initially.

Do I think they will eventually get one?  There may be a good chance... especially if they view it as a 2nd or 3rd choice console (like the Wii was to hardcore gamers) that they can play when their non-gaming friends or family come over.

So there ya go.

Facts or misinformed biased opinions triumph again.

And just so I'm 100% clear.  I'm NOT saying that everyone who plays mobile spends money.  The majority do NOT.  They put up with ads and waiting for coins to fill up or deceptive gameplay because its easy and very convenient (i.e. in their pocket and accessible at all times).  But we're talking BILLIONS of people here.  Remember... Switch only has 2% of the game playing population in the world.  XBOX even less!  So if XBOX & Nintendo can be highly successful by owning 1% or 2% of people that play video games... could Intellivision be successful if we got one tenth of one percent?  That would be 3 million consoles.  I'd take that.

:)

It is cherry-picking on the part of haters to focus on the whale part. Only 3% may spend over $300 a year, but 16% (tens of millions in the US) spend $60 to $300 per year. It’s not like it’s 3% spend big and the rest spend diddly squat. The $90 yearly average falls squarely in that 16%. Less than 40% are non-payers. Another 40% spend, but spend less than $60 per year.

By the way, that 19% adds up to 500 million mobile gamers worldwide who spend over $60 per year, and 75 million of these spend over $300 a year. If 0.1% of these 500 million buy an Amico, it will be a success. Plus, you've also got the specific parents with young kids and the over 50 crowd that overlap.

I know now they say the term haters is inaccurate, but when they’re just throwing everything at the wall every week and hoping something sticks, it’s not so inaccurate.

There seems to be more hate here for Pat then anyone has for Amico. The last couple pages don't come off well. Haters might be the people here. Pat shouldn't effect your enjoyment of this system.

Oh, I’d say that’s a stretch, imo. But whatever. Mainly just addressing the inaccuracies in the mobile payer rumors out there. I don’t really know what to call the people spreading them since it goes beyond simple doubt/concern, so I don’t want to include the more reasonable doubters among them. This was covered like a year ago, but they want to dig up its corpse again as if it’s still alive.

Tommy and the rest of the board,

I would quit talking about those guys. I won't even mention the names, but you know who they are.  They crave the attention, so don't give it to them. There are two motives for their actions. #1 $ from viewers on Youtube. #2 Really angry about the personal attacks they received from IE supporters about their physical appearances. I feel for them on #2, as that was out of line.

Just my opinion.

Folks, can we put this one to rest?

Next subject please.

For whatever it's worth, I agree.  You can't argue someone out of a position they didn't argue themselves into, and in the case of the two people in question (among others), their animus toward the Amico seems to be more for personal reasons than anything else.  Continuing to try to change their minds, or responding to them in kind, will just fan the flames and give them more attention and "ammunition," which only perpetuates the problem.  I think it would be better for all of us if we simply ignore them, and resist the temptation to react to them.  If anyone wants to come here in good faith to respectfully ask legitimate questions, they're welcome to do so.  When it becomes clear that someone is instead coming from a place of personal hostility and isn't really interested in having a civilized discussion, either here or elsewhere, I recommend walking away.

I had a ponytail for 11 years in my life and got used to people making multiple references or calling me "the ponytail guy". I guess some people are more delicate than others.

Personally, I was not one of the 2-3 users that made those comments (which, by the way, are common in forums and should not be used to hate a product or a company) and, after something I discovered in another forum, I even recommended everyone in this thread not to attack one of this persons based on his body movements, as they apparently were caused by some health problem.

But I will say one last thing about this: you can't call an event "bizarre" and then come up with this.

Yes!  Love this.

How about new forum rule.  Like politics and religion... all things related to "they who shall not be named" are not to be spoken about in this thread moving forward.

Sounds like an awesome plan.

All in favor say "aye!"

AYE!!

Everyone else... you were too late to vote.

Okay... the "aye's" have it.

Amico All Access for August 26th is up in Rewind.  I want to thank Scott Barrett for coming on the show and roasting @Tommy Tallarico a little bit :) Scott was a blast to talk to and he shared his thoughts on Amico and Bomb Squad!

I don't know if this is just coincidence, but intellivision baseball was given a credit on that album.

No it wasn't.  Geddy Lee is a huge baseball fan and as Gene Simmons once described Rush as being dorky,  I could see a By-Tor vs Snowdog Intellivision World Series going on in their hotel room in the early 80s.

Just another great example of how funny Alex Lifeson was... would have given anything to know them on a personal level.  They sound like a lot of fun on our level.  LOL!

They must have played so much intellivision baseball during the creation of Signals that they gave it a credit on the album.  Was wondering if Curlyq knew this.  Wonder what Geddy Lee thinks of intellivision today.  Has he moved on to modern baseball video games.

Both are much watch IMHO:

Scott Barrett is hilarious and talked about the early days of Electric Playground; Dangerous Stunts with Tommytm; his early days in the video industry; his arcade machine collection (including a curtain pull reveal (literally) of a Tron *booth* arcade machine); perils of the gaming business; his game Heavy Burger and of course Bomb Squad.

Tommy interview was one of the best just casual talks with a couple of cool guys (and some wife guest appearances) in a long time. Tommy was leaking like a sieve (as usual) dropping info on Warlords; how Intellivision is looking at cultural differences & not just male/female/hard core/casual gamers; Tommy shows off the "Amico Light" with keyboard attachment (or not), Spideman & comics talk, new sports franchises have been acquired; pickable 7th free game? and much, much more.
