Good interview Tommy.

Yes, it was a great interview, a part from a few awkward “gotcha” attempts from mr Inglebard, what was that about?🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure who here recommended the game Warlords, but I played it for the first time yesterday. Holy crap was that a fun game. I could definitely see something like that on Amico, and the disc would be a perfect fit for it.

So when you hear someone claim the Amico is too expensive and use the new xbox series s as a reference, ask them if they priced the storage your going to need to store your games.  The series s  will only have half a gig of storage which equates to 3 games at best. 1 tb of their proprietary storage is $219. Oh but its cheaper lol.

You can use a usb hdd and transfer between drives to.play games.... but that will take a bit so no instant gaming  all the time.

Sure but whats the point. The whole idea is to have it be a faster experience.  Its not faster if you want to have a nice library of games. And your limited to moving games around all the time.  Then you know what happens next? That dreaded message right after you loaded that game pops up. "Update required"

I think you could probably give an XBOX One S away for free to a lot of our target audience and they still wouldn't open it and play it.

:)

You could very well be right, and I very much look forward to seeing the Amico released and competing for dollars and gamer eyeballs.

That's probably my favorite 2600 game just because of the multiplayer.  My son and I can play that game for hours.  Which is hard to say about other 2600 games.

As Tommy stated I dont think the target audience would still want it.

Also my theory is this, with the release of the series s its likely the one s will be discontinued shortly after.  The one x is already been axed.  I just dont see Microsoft want to have a old console lingering on.  The one has been out long enough and anyone that was really desiring it would have bought it by now.  And anyone in the market for a new console will only be wanting a console with years of future support.  I could be wrong but why confuse the market with a old 3rd wheel?

As Tommy and yourself state, you could be right in that the target audience still wouldn't want it.  But, I still think some (not a lot mind you) would give it thought at least.  Also, yes, MS could very well axe the Xbox One S soon.  However, I believe that the Xbox One S will serve as the entry level, low cost option (for a little while at least).  However, one never knows exactly what a company has planned as MS themselves have teased there is more to come, but we will just have to see.  Same from Sony, Nintendo, or any other company for that matter.  Regardless, it is an interesting and fun time for sure with many new options coming out.

I agree, its an entry level machine, its for those looking to dabble into the more hardcore consoles, its also for the economically constrained xmas consumer. It will likely sell millions since there are several demographics for this.  So while it likely wont hurt amico too badly, its definitely not gonna help since it gives young gamers parents another low cost console option. I dont think real gamers will touch this, and this machine is more about marketing than engineering, but if we hit a full blown recession/depression soon, it might just look like a stroke of genius for microsoft.

Yep.  The Series S looks to be a winner for MS as a lot of articles on the console have been praising it thus far.  Now, how exactly well it will sell is anyone's guess.  I think it looks to be winner and a good blend of power and price.  However, time will only tell.

I just do see the point in the series s. Just add the the price of adding storage and your at the cost of the series x with 1tb of internal storage better performance.  It was already been a pain have to spend more money on storage on my 1X because before I had to spend time managing space. Series  S will only hold 3 games sure you can waste time moving games around but my time is limited and if I have to do work to jump in and play a game I likely wont waste my time swapping games around. 1 more hurdle that I dont need. Not at $300+

huh? where you buying your memory at?  1tb or even 2 TB of memory is dirt cheap these days. The Xseries is 200 more than the Series s. I would also think microsoft will give players options for cloud storage.

The new series x and s requires you to use their proprietary drives to play the games. Those are $219 for 1tb

but those arent really needed unless you are a hard core gamer playing 3 to 4 AAA titles at the same time. Not many do that, and even fewer less hard core players do. To simply keep a game locally on a drive in case you want to come back in a month or so and start playing it again, you can use the USB 3.0 port just like always.  So as we mentioned this looks to be an entry level machine, not a hard core one.

Hmm not sure about that. I play games like fortnite,  star wars battlefront 2, and and Apex legends in a regular basis.  And keep a few games on to play till I complete them then I remove them. But the 1st 3 I never remove. So that would make it pretty difficult to manage on the series s. Also I keep some smaller games on to jump in and play with my family like the new battletoads.

Update: also from what ive heard and I could be wrong but you have to have the games on their new storage so adding a 3.0 external drive wont allow you the ability to start playing games off of it till you transfer it to this new drive ot its internal storage.

Meh, that Series S is getting the hype because it is one of only a few things known at the moment regarding next gen pricing. Few people will actually buy one, most likely, and those that do will likely be people who didn't pick up the current generation so a 1/2 step is ok. It's what's called "Anchor Pricing", meaning "the new Xbox is $300" rather than "the new Xbox is $500".

yep, exactly. It is also smart during an economic downturn, and its a smart play for the entry level grade school kids or non hard core gamer who just want to play a certain title or two. Parents asks their kids what they want for xmas.. this gives a parent the alternative to not have to go full bore 500 bucks in for an xseries or ps5 while still keeping the kid happy. Its why the sooner Amico can get to the 199 price point the better.

I think Tommy confirmed it on @gogamego's podcast last week, didn't he?
