Albert #1 Posted March 7, 2019 Is it possible to convert an NTSC Atari 2600 to PAL? if so, what is involved? Is it easier to just buy a PAL 2600? I now have a CRT monitor capable of displaying both PAL and NTSC signals (with a second on the way!) and I'd like to have at least one PAL 2600 so I can better test PAL50 and PAL60 homebrews and see the correct color palette. Thanks in advance for any advice. ..Al
Rom Hunter #2 Posted March 7, 2019 A friend of mine tried it once back in the day, but IIRC it's not that easy.We ended up with black and white I think?Long time ago.
+Karl G #3 Posted March 7, 2019 I suppose step one would be swapping out the TIA for one from a PAL system. I'm not sure what step 2 would be, though.

+Muddyfunster #7 Posted March 7, 2019 PAL 2600's are relatively cheap to pick up in the UK. I'm coming over to Nashville in May if you want to try and figure something out.
vintagegamecrazy #8 Posted March 7, 2019 Just cough up a few spare funds and pick up a pal system. It's just a lot less hassle to do so over converting one.
