doug0909 #1 Posted April 4, 2019 The good news - it works with my Retro Trio. The bad news - it doesn't work with my Atari 2600, my Atari 7800, or my controller port modified Odyssey 2. I assume it won't work on the 8 bit computers either. Oh well.
mr_me #2 Posted April 4, 2019 Probably needs 5v on pin 5. Maybe an adapter can make it work. Ataris send 5v on pin 7.
BrianC #3 Posted April 4, 2019 I haven't tried it yet, but it should work with the edladdin seagull adapter for the 7800. The dongles for the 2.4G Krikzz Joyzz and the bluetooth 8bitdo controllers both work with it.
doug0909 #4 Posted April 4, 2019 (edited) I just tried that. Weirdly, everything but the up direction worked on my 7800 and 2600 when using the Seagull 78. Up on the 7800 wouldn't work in the cuttle cart 2 menu or games, and it wouldn't work on the 2600 in the Harmony menu (didn't try the games). Unrelated to the dongle I'm sure, then my old Harmony cart stopped working on the 2600 and 7800. If I can't get it to work again, does anyone know, is there a trade in program? I then retested the controller on my retro trio and up works fine. Edited April 4, 2019 by doug0909
doug0909 #5 Posted April 4, 2019 (edited) If I can find them I have the Best Electronics genesis to 2600 cable (which I think is just to make the rapid fire button on Genesis controllers work) somewhere as well. I'll give that a try when I get a chance. Edited April 4, 2019 by doug0909
Inky #6 Posted April 5, 2019 As I posted in another thread on a similar topic, I got the bluetooth Genesis dongle working with my 7800 and my Sega Master system. I'm really digging this. I was thinking of testing this with my Vision-Dapter on my PC. My PC has native bluetooth, but if I ever use vision dapter on a non bluetooth PC, that may be a good solution. mr_me #7 Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) Here's instructions for a two button genesis to 7800 adapter. An adapter supporting one button should be simpler. Nothing is going to going to happen unless the dongle gets power through pin 5. http://web.archive.org/web/20010204000200/http://www.cs.colostate.edu:80/~dzubera/2600faq.html#sega Edited April 5, 2019 by mr_me
