rasty #2 Posted June 21, 2003 Ahh Sky Jinks.. a game I always wanted to spend a lot of time on, but never got to As a side note, it would be interesting to know, wherever possible, the time it took to achieve the scores.. sometimes I guess it will be even more amazing than the score itself (I'm not talking about games with a timer of course!) And congratulations to David! Rasty.-

And congratulations to David! Rasty.- The Ghostbusters max score took me just under 8 hours. As I said in another thread called "Ghostbusters Woes", I wouldn't want to do this one again!! Thanks everyone!
the 5th ghost #4 Posted June 21, 2003 Congrats David! I never played Sky Jinks that much but now I am inspired to give it a serious try I'm sure "The Champ" will be very proud of your acomplishment These days I've been working on my Kaboom! game with the small buckets. So far I managed to surpass my current high score but I would love to take it further... Take care, Doug
the 5th ghost #5 Posted June 22, 2003 Gave Sky Jinks a try today and managed a time of 34.74 on game 1B! Very challenging to fly full throttle without crashing. Hey David, got any hints? Doug
Godzilla #6 Posted June 23, 2003 ive always loved sky jinks, great for a speed rush. its funny, but i remember being absolutely blown away by the graphics at the time.
EricDeLee #7 Posted June 23, 2003 It's freakin' hard for me. I can't get better than about 40 seconds.
the 5th ghost #8 Posted June 23, 2003 It's freakin' hard for me. I can't get better than about 40 seconds. I had the same trouble then I realized the left difficulty switch was set on A (expert) instead of B (novice) Check it out, if it's switched to A, then there will be more trees which makes it more difficult. I never imagined I'd get addicted to Sky Jinks, great game! Doug
EricDeLee #9 Posted June 23, 2003 I wish I could say that is the case... but unfortunatly... it's not. LOL I just suck that bad I guess.
Big Player #10 Posted June 24, 2003 Sky Jinks is a great game. One of my favorites. I recommend using a Sega Genesis game pad. It makes those turns much easier. This was the first game I played where I got into that Zen-like state of total concentration and scored in the 32 second range. However, it was on the weak Activision Action pack which couldn't emulate the 2600 at full speed. Too bad for me.

I've been playing it on the real thing the past couple days but never scored below 0:34 secs. Doug
D.Yancey #12 Posted June 24, 2003 I predict the record may fall again now that this forgotten game is getting some attention by so many great players!
D.Yancey #13 Posted June 24, 2003 I starting to hear "ghostly" rumors about some great scores. Hang on; it's going to be a rough ride!!
bobafett07728 #14 Posted June 24, 2003 Congratulatiosn David! I have been checking out the record book, and your name does appear quite a bit. I am in the process of copying all my recorded 'bests' onto one tape, and getting them sent in to Twin Galaxies. I figured I'd wait until I had a bunch of respectable scores, and send them in all at once. I did max out Spider Fighter, and did fairly well in a few other games (Frostbite, Boxing, Plaque Attack,) and had anticipated playing Sky Jinks as well. It has been one of my favorites since my early Atari days. I doubt I will give your time a challenge, but a top five would be nice. I'll let you guys know when I send in my tape, and good luck to you all!!!!!
RCorcoran #15 Posted June 24, 2003 Bobafett: Be sure to send a copy of the TG Submission Form along with your tape. You may also want to send me an e-mail with a list of games you intend to submit scores for so I can give you any special rules, etc. The Submission Form can be found here: http://www.snipercade.com/twingal/bin/TG%2...Form%20v1.2.pdf Let me know if you have any questions or problems viewing the form. If you have questions about whom to send scores to for each platform, check out the following thread on the TG site: http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=
bobafett07728 #16 Posted June 24, 2003 Thanks Ron! I emailed you a week or two ago, and recieved a bunch of rules. I've been busy trying to set impressive scores ever since. As soon as I get this tape done, I'll send it out. I'm having a blast trying to re-master some of these games!!!! Are there any tournaments, or conventions, in future for the east coast? I've never been to a gaming convention, and would love to try my hands in a tournament of some type!!!!!
RCorcoran #17 Posted June 24, 2003 The only TG sanctioned Atari tournament occurs each year at the Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, NV. You can find more info by going to http://www.cgexpo.com Click here for a list of events TG will run this year: http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/viewtop...opic.php?t=1063 Additionally, there will be a JagFest event at CGE running along-side our TG events. the 5th ghost #18 Posted June 24, 2003 I starting to hear "ghostly" rumors about some great scores. Hang on; it's going to be a rough ride!! Now where did you ever hear that?? Doug
D.Yancey #19 Posted June 25, 2003 @ Bobafett07728: Thanks! I look forward to seeing your scores get posted on Twin Galaxies. It is great fun when more gamers join in the competition of setting records. There are many games where my score is not the top one, but I enjoy trying to maintain a top 5 ranking among other gamers competing! @5th ghost: I've shaved a bit off my time ....but just relax so far
D.Yancey #20 Posted July 1, 2003 Hey 5th Ghost: I shaved a couple more hundreths off my time! Whew? I don't know if we can get into to 34.5's!
kondre #21 Posted July 3, 2003 when i was a kid, that game was tops! the graphics were excellent and the sound effects were perfect. its one of those old games i wish someone would do a re-make, but i fear that if a remake was done it would be done so poorly. 34.71 i will have to play it again tonight to see what i can do to getting close to that. I do remember getting low 30's when i was kid.
