FlashFloppy is free firmware for cheap Gotek floppy emulators 15- 20€ from China.

 

Lattest version has Atari's ATR file support.

 

Question is, what else is needed to use it with Atari? Goteks have a standard 34 pin floppy connector.

XF-551, ATR-8000, Percom controller, Black Box w/ Floppy board, etc. should work as long as it emulates a double density disk and not a HD disk.

Didn't think there could be many other options but, Section 3.2.7) "How can I use an industry standard floppy disk drive?" of the Atari 8-Bit FAQ covers the options pretty well:

That would be very fitting, using an ATR-8000 with it for ATR's...
