Swami
I tried dumping Old School bin and cfg files to play on jzintv and I just get the following. Any idea what went wrong. jzintv says it is a 28k file. I've dumped other similar homebrews, no problem.

Swami
That shows that the copy protection works. That would be end of the road for me then, but the inty controllers suck for 4-way games, so I'd prefer to use an emulator.
mr_me
Try deleting the first segment and adding the following to the cfg. mr_me
The cartridge might have some feature that the dumper doesn't support e.g. ram, memory banking. I guessed ram because I've seen others use ram at that location. The memory map is a little unusual with a hole at x5800. You can try something more standard. It could be the rom is dumped but the memory map is screwed up. What cartridge board is inside? Edited April 7, 2019 by mr_me

mr_me
If it's a microcontroller based board my understanding is that it's not copy protected but something a simple cartridge dumper can't access. Edit: Forgot to say the intellivision disc is great for 4-way games, not so much for 8-way games. Edited April 7, 2019 by mr_me

Swami
Forgot to say the intellivision disc is great for 4-way games, not so much for 8-way games. I keep missing the corners, like with pac-man with an 8-way stick. I wanted to use my modified 4-way sega master control stick with jzintv (replaced the club with a 7800 joystick). I just bought a sega controller adapter, though.
mr_me
It could be it's just the way the game is programmed. Let us know if the joystick makes a difference. Arcade games like pacman and donkey kong were written for 4-way joysticks. So when it receives, for example, up and right together it might not do anything. Intellivision 4-way games should map all 16 directions to something. Some might leave holes in the mapping however, causing problems. Swami
And a 4-way joystick can be used with intellivision with a simple passive wire adapter. I know it's been done, like the adapter I'm getting, but it looks like the keypad and joystick are all intertwined, so more complicated than about any other controller. I know grips arcade stick needs a battery to operate. I picked one up for $150 on eBay once, but not a fan of the left-hand joystick and I often forget to turn the switch off, so I go through a lot of batteries with it. I was once quoted $225 for a custom right-handed, but naw. My go-to sticks for emulation are my modified sega master controller stick for 4-way, Sega Beeshu ambidextrous or Xbox 360 gamepad for the others. Of course, I need standard controllers or dedicated arcade sticks with keypads for some games.
mr_me
The intellivision de-9 pinout for a 4-way one button joystick. 1 left 2 up 3 right 4 down 5 ground 6+8 top side action A second action button would require some diodes but shouldn't need external power. Full diagonal support needs more electronics and probably external power. Edited April 9, 2019 by mr_me

I think my counting of the spacing was off, using D4, D8, D12, but, anyhow, the one I ordered is supposed to be able to switch between 5-ground sticks and 8-ground sticks. It can use two buttons on Sega controllers, but not 7800 controllers.
