NovaXpress #2 Posted June 23, 2003 I first played the SNES in the Nintendo Championships at Ohio State. I bombed because I couldn't figure out Pilot Wings. Super Mario was also one of the competition games but I can't remember the third and final game. I want to say F-Zero but i gotta research this. I've always wondered why I only hear about the first Nintendo competition. I first started entering them in the year of Mario Bros 3/Pinbot/Dr.Mario as the games. If you could hit the 100,000 bonus target in Pinbot at the first shot then you could really clean up at Dr.Mario. I made the finals at Ohio State, in which I finally missed the money shot at Pinbot. tyranthraxus #3 Posted June 23, 2003 In 1992 or 1993 I had decided I wanted a SNES. I had envied my friends NESes for years and when the new Zelda game came out I was sold! So I saved my meager high school earnings and went down to Zellars and bought one. As I was coming home my Dad noticed my larger package. He asked what I bought and blew the roof off the house when I showed him. Giving me the usual "don't need that crap" line so I had to return it the next day I never even got to open the box However a few weeks later he bought a 386 which I used mainly to play games on Wing Commander Star Control 2 & Doom John
The Historian #4 Posted June 23, 2003 Smartball, that is one cool game. Uniracers has the distinction of being one of the best games on the SNES. Talk about a great party game. We played it for hours. I'd also mention a platform game called "Whirlo" which I think is PAL only. I loved that game though I never beat it.... RMila75 #5 Posted June 23, 2003 Back in 1993, I thought Contra 3 was just the greatest thing on the planet. And Zelda gobbled up hours of my time as well. I think that was the most amazing video game I ever played up to that point in time. Then came Super Metroid...equally amazing.
Vic George 2K3 #6 Posted June 23, 2003 I was into VideoMation for the NES at the time, and hearing that the Super NES would have Mario Paint in the fall of 1992 made me want to get the Super NES. What I thought was the most appealing thing about the system, though, was its use of the Mode 7 feature in games like Pilotwings, Hyperzone, Space Football: One On One, and some sections of games like Castlevania IV and the Super Star Wars series. Zeus #7 Posted June 23, 2003 I was always partial to the Koei line of games. Romance II, Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic, as well as PTO were my all-time favourites. I also really liked the Donkey Kong Country games. I still have them all, including the box, and the price tag (from Zellers) for $139.99. I still play those games today. jeezy9 #9 Posted June 30, 2003 I cant believe we're already "reminissing" on the SNES. it seems like yesterday that the SNES was the newest thing. i remember thinking at the time that there would never be a better system. now look at all the PS2's and XBOX's and Gamecube's. Some of my favorites on SNES, that i still play, include: techmo super bowl, mariocart, streetfighter II, nba jam, bust-a-move, and the remake of the classic NES game baseball simulator 1000. all classics in my mind. King Atari #13 Posted July 1, 2003 Geez, I got my SNES when it was just coming out, and it was truly a blast. Super Mario World has to be one of the best pack-ins ever, and the system only got better. Contra III, Gradius III, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, Batman Returns, Donkey Kong Counrty, and so many others, the SNES was definitely worth playing. As for what's better, SNES or Genesis, I had both, so I didn't care about debates . If I didn't feel like Mario at the time, there was Sonic right next to it in my Genesis . Yeah the SMW pack-in was awsome probably inspiered by the NES ACTION PACK w/ SMB or the CHALLENGE PACK w/ the ever soo popular SMB3 and whats better I had no contest beacuse I had played the Genny in '89 but when getting the SNES in '91 it was the best thing to me! Then the genny came in 1994 but my Super had always been my favorite in the 16-Bit ERA Also as nifty accessories became available like the Mario Paint in '92 and the SUPER Advantage conroller in 1994 much like the ever soo wonderful NES Advantage controller in '87 but Mario Paint was very good for me AS for the FX series in the SNES (Stunt Racer FX, Star Fox) I thought those where the best graphics Ive seen yet! untill getting KILLER Instinct which pushed the SNES and my brain to the limit!! Raijin Z #15 Posted July 1, 2003 ROCK N ROLL RACING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more need be said. I had to get that because the cheap fucks Children Services stuck me with wouldn't give me the DOLLAR I needed to get Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Not a happy memory. joeybastard #16 Posted July 1, 2003 I love the SNES something fierce. It always surprised me how much they could get that ugly box to do. My favorite games are Pilotwings, Desert Strike, Super Mario All Stars, RNR Racing, F-zero, Choplifter 3 and Blackthorne. The controllers were also the best of all of Nintendo's gamepads. I never did get a Superscope 6 but I alwasy keep my eye out when thrifting for it. I used Mario Paint to generate the titles and animation for my final project in college (I got my degree in Broadcast Arts). My dean of communications was soimpressed he had me bring in my SNES and demonstarte how to do it/set it thru a tape deck, etc.

I own the game!! and it what you have been looking for!! The SNES has alot of pretty good RPG's too. FF2 and FF3 were both fun to play and Chrono Trigger is OK. Though I have to admit that Chrono Trigger got kind of boring as are most of today's console RPG's these days. Don't forget Super-Mario Kart on the SNES. That game was classic and my friends and I got so much fun out of that game. I was never that good at it, but it was still fun to play. I'll also never forget playing Street Fighter 2 for the first time at home. Life couldn't have gotten much better when I didn't have to go to an arcade to play SF2. A2600 #18 Posted July 2, 2003 That is all so true you would probably ask your friends for a quarter or 50 cents just to play!
