xybot67
Just thought I would share this Youtube video of a Star Wars Arcade WIP for the Vectrex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pABpAVcFeiI Hopefully, the programmer will be able to complete it. Fingers crossed.

christo930
Is it actually running on a Vectrex though? It looks suspicious. Why does the screen say pull the trigger?
TrekMD
I hope the programmer can get this game done. It would be awesome!
+FujiSkunk
Is it actually running on a Vectrex though? It looks suspicious. This demo isn't, no. Still, it does look like an actual Vectrex game. I've read of projects where someone hacks a Vectrex monitor to a PC board to run vector games via MAME or similar emulator, but this definitely ain't that. If it were, the graphics would be either stretched or sideways, and the fonts would be different. Why does the screen say pull the trigger? Why not? I've seen several home games say "Insert coin" or similar arcade-y things in an effort to give a more "authentic" arcade experience.

If so, hopefully we will see a completed release.

ledzep
Please let this happen, Universe. Amazing! Agreed. Years ago I would have assumed it couldn't happen but after seeing the homebrew version of Battlezone I'm sure this could happen, too. Sprout
Running on an emulator - unclear whether this is more of a tech demo, vs. something that's a WIP. Translation from the video description: "I am running with paraJVE. It did not reach to the real thing in various ways, but it is just the atmosphere and w. The laser gun was to be left to the overlay."
TheCoolDave
I own the cockpit version of this game. Dam that looks awesome, besides the lack of color, almost dead on... Impressive but, would love to see a finished product, running on REAL hardware and not a emulator... Still very cool WTF ? IS this a real cart ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3sup6GO65c Edited June 8, 2019 by TheCoolDave

That's incredible. I have a completely unused HP Stream 7 sitting here that is in need to a project. (At the time it was cheaper to buy the tablet with a free year of Office 365 than buying Office 365!) Of course the odds of getting a VecFever mean it will likely sit for a long time... spoonman
That looks awesome, but having played the Vectrex since 1984, I'd have to say that the mighty Vic just isn't capable of that sort of super smooth game play with full screen vectors. It looks to be 60fps no matter how much is on screen. I wish it were real, but I'm thinking this is some sort of mock up. Like that WipEout PS1 port takeout Vectrex video. I'm afraid this is as good as it's likely going to get for a Star Wars Arcade like game on the Vec.
Steev
Colour me sceptical until I see it on hardware. I tried write a version of the trench assault portion, but managed little better than Star Fire!
