Strange things on my 2600 label

Recommended Posts

Another thread got me looking for the serial number of my second Atari my family bought (the first Telegames being lost to the ages). The serial number is 70447L which is apparenly among the earliest systems around, but there are some other things i never noticed before.

The label is stamped with a red RECONDITION and a black 1380. It is also initialed in blue ballpint by E-H-W. I didn't know that this was a reconditioned unit until now. I was wondering the meaning of the 1380 (maybe the 1380th they repaired) and who the hell EHW is.

The 1380 might mean that the unit was reconditioned on January 3, 1980.

If it is anything like the date codes on chips it would be the 13th week of 1980. :D

It may well be the date, I can't remember when we got this unit. An interesting note: we bought it from Sears and it is clearly labled as a VCS.
