ussexplorer #1 Posted June 24, 2003 Game Genie Sega Genesis I finally picked up a Game Genie for the Sega Genesis. I will continue to look for information on this device. But, I figured some of you guys/gals could help 1. Cannot be played on Genesis III 2. Cannot be used with 32x Adaptor? (Seems to come up but I have no codes) 3. Seems to work fine on top of the 32x adaptor (32x cart passes through just fine) 4. Cannot be used with Sega Cd. 5. Can be used for import games 6. I remember something about using whiteout on a pin for some reason. 7. How many books were released? (I got the original plus one small update guide) 8. Can it be used with the 6 in 1 cart? (I have yet to try) 9. Is this the version that trashed games or was that just a rumor? Later, Josh
MegaManFan #2 Posted June 24, 2003 If 5 proves to be true, I'm gonna run out and get one. I'm tired of trying to get a "Mega Key" converter so I can play Wily Wars, so if I can do a cheap end-run around it with a Genie I'm all for it. I'm currently trying to make one for my Super Famicom games out of a SNES Genie, but the damn thing has the same "security notches" that the SNES does inside that won't accept smooth surface molding. I'm gonna have to get a screwdriver, take the back faceplate off it, and pray no dust gets in the goodies.
ussexplorer #3 Posted June 24, 2003 From what I read. The first most problem is size. This eliminates the size problem with foreign carts and at times that is all that is needed. Then we go from their. The site I ran into the guy figured out what codes to enter on SOME carts to make them think they are in a foreign unit. Another problem is a 50/60hz check. There was a modification for that to. But, I'm not really interested in playing foreign games. Just nice to know if I ever run into one. I can at least try it via the game genie. snorlaxnut #4 Posted June 24, 2003 4. Cannot be used with Sega Cd. I heard that they were developing a Game Genie that fits between the original models of the Genesis and Sega CD, but they stopped when Sega changed the design of the Genesis and Sega CD. 5. Can be used for import games After cleaning my system and cart, I got it to work with the Mega Drive cart Marko's Magic Football. 7. How many books were released? (I got the original plus one small update guide) There must be at least 12 of those update guides (That's how many I have.) 8. Can it be used with the 6 in 1 cart? (I have yet to try) Do you mean the cart that had Sonic the Hedgehog on it, or the 6-in-1 cart that came with the Sega Menacer light gun?

RMila75 #6 Posted June 26, 2003 When I tried it with the six-in-one cart, the codes would not have any effect. I think the versions of the games on the six-in-one are just slightly different than the original cart versions. I've never had any problem playing Genesis games with the Genie in the 32X. I would take the Genie out when playing 32X games though.
