looks like a first gen (home build). i thought the Ramrod originals were bigger boards.

without knowing for sure, what it's supposed to be - i'm in the dark here.

anyone any clues? or a copy of a relevant manual

thanks

I'm with JR> here, home rolled only.

Ramrod was for 800 only and much bigger.

Personality board replacement entirely.

There are a couple of posts with pictures of it.

How it's going to work on an XL is anybody's guess

other than an 800 OS choice obviously.

The only reason you'd have something like that for the OS is a switcher or as a source of the data or (more likely) much of the address bus. In which case you'd have many more wires leading away from it.

Though not to say it wasn't part of something bigger - you might have something like a Qmeg OS Rom in conjunction with 256K or better Ram.

to clarify:

I removed this from a working 800XL machine yesterday.

two positions for the switch:

UP:

with option = Atari self test

w/o Option = blue Atari "Ready"

DOWN

Option = single cursor, dark blue screen

w/o option = darker blue screen with white Atari "Ready"

with Select = David Young Omnimon XL © 1984
