What's this board for?

Hi all, I don't usually venture into this part of the forum, but I had a C64 a few years ago and i've just come across a circuit board that came with one i bought, can anyone tell me what it's used for please? :)

It is used to connect two tape recorders at the same time, to simplify duplication of tapes. Those don't seem overly common. I've got a similar board.

It can also be used if you have both a tape recorder and e.g. a SD2IEC set up to draw power from the tape port. I don't know exactly how many mA is safe to draw from the same pins, but I recently connected it like that without anything breaking.

Just a guess, but it looks like a splitter for Datasette recorders … connecting two up to one computer so you could read one and write the other … probably for fast* copying (* where “fast” means 300 Baud)
