What's this board for?

Hi all, I don't usually venture into this part of the forum, but I had a C64 a few years ago and i've just come across a circuit board that came with one i bought, can anyone tell me what it's used for please?

It is used to connect two tape recorders at the same time, to simplify duplication of tapes. Those don't seem overly common. I've got a similar board.

 

 

It can also be used if you have both a tape recorder and e.g. a SD2IEC set up to draw power from the tape port. I don't know exactly how many mA is safe to draw from the same pins, but I recently connected it like that without anything breaking.

Just a guess, but it looks like a splitter for Datasette recorders … connecting two up to one computer so you could read one and write the other … probably for fast* copying (* where “fast” means 300 Baud)
