Foxy Cleopatra #1 Posted June 25, 2003 We'll be heading to the cabin in a few weeks, and more than likely stopping at the Wal-Mart that still had a few of these last year. If they still have them is anyone interested in me picking one up for them No guarantees, but they been collecting dust in the case for the last 3years so there is a chance... If the price was/is pretty low, I might give it a go.
Rhindle The Red #3 Posted June 25, 2003 Any games?
Raijin Z #4 Posted June 25, 2003 Color? The local Babbages was selling the BW deals for like $15 a couple years ago, and I missed out...
Foxy Cleopatra #5 Posted June 26, 2003 Honest I can't remember what they were priced at, but as long as I keep my Wal-Mart receipt I can always take them back What say if I find them I grab a couple and I'll post here to see if anyone wants'em. And there may have been games but again it's been a year which means I'm a year older and more of my brain cells have died and I can't remember... DeV0 #6 Posted June 27, 2003 I dont want one but can confirm they are an excellent hand held. I have the colour version and a few games, Brilliant stuff for holidays, good battery time, and loads smaller than the lynx.
slapdash #7 Posted June 27, 2003 I might surely be interested in games they have <=$10 that I don't have, which is to say many of them.
JB #8 Posted June 29, 2003 As I recall, WalMart only carried hte systems with Sonic the Hedgehog, because they didn't want to risk buying games for an unknown system. I blame places like WalMart and Best Buy(who treated it similarly) partially for SNK's failure. Had WalMart carried the games, the system WOULD have sold there. Rhindle The Red #9 Posted June 29, 2003 Had WalMart carried the games, the system WOULD have sold there. Why? Wal-Mart video game shoppers are the least adventurous there are. What makes you think they'd support a new system from a (to them) unknown company? The most likely place where the NGPC could have succeeded was EB and the like. And those stores backed it pretty well. SNK just didn't have the resources (or the variety of line-up) to compete.

What makes you think they'd support a new system from a (to them) unknown company? They carried the system. And any idiot can tell you that a system without games won't sell. ... Of course, I do tend to over-estimate WalMart's electronics department. I keep forgetting that htey were asking 30$ and up for NES games well into the N64's life. Foxy Cleopatra #11 Posted July 18, 2003 Okay the Wal-Mart in Cranberry PA (way up north from Pittsburgh for all you PA people) has these for $50. The are Neo Geo Pocket color and all of them are blue. I didn't pick any up because I had a feeling no one here would take them off my hands for that price, but if you are interested or know anyone who is feel free to get directions from me and take a roadtrip
Hydian #12 Posted July 18, 2003 Yeah, $50 is high. Too bad they had no games or I'd go up there. It's not a far drive at all.
MegaManFan #13 Posted July 18, 2003 $50 isn't bad for one, but I was hoping they'd be on clearance for less. If you had picked up one though, I would have paid you for it anyway - I spent that much for a Nomad.
JB #14 Posted July 18, 2003 $50 isn't bad for one, but I was hoping they'd be on clearance for less. Like I said, this IS the chain that asked 30$ for NES games well into the N64 era.... My local one did, anyways.
Hydian #15 Posted July 18, 2003 FYI, Gamestop has these listed on their site with 6 games for $70 which is a good deal.
surfnmadness #16 Posted July 20, 2003 MegaManFan, check out the original SOL's downtown. If I seen right, they have a box full of them behind the counter. No clue on prices. I was looking for 2600 stuff.
MegaManFan #17 Posted July 21, 2003 Will do. Just got back from Central Iowa. Pretty dry, although I did find a used Cubivore for $33 at the newest Gamers in Des Moines.
chrisbid #18 Posted July 21, 2003 33?!! ive seen that for 6 bucks at blockbuster, i didnt get it because i figured at that price, it was a horrid game
Jayson #19 Posted July 25, 2003 It has been my experience that Wal-mart must have the absolute worst video-game buyer/department manager in the retail industry. Has not got a clue what is really happening in the industry. That of course is why you're seeing $50 NES cartridges in the N64 era.

I tried to buy a game from one once, and there was an hour between when I asked to see the game and when I got fed up and left. There were many people crowded around the case waiting for a game. The store later decided to shrink the video game section, presumably due to low sales.
