I am trying to get my setup working to get on a BBS, and having no luck(little over my head and need help)

Here is my setup

Stock 800XL, atari 850 with CX87 cable in port R1, 25 pin to the UDS-10. Ethernet cable from the UDS-10 to a Xfinity modem/router

BobTerm 1.22 set to full duplex, ASCII, 9600

Here is my UDS-10 config.

*** basic parameters
Hardware: Ethernet Autodetect
IP addr - 0.0.0.0/DHCP/BOOTP/AutoIP, gateway 10.0.0.1,netmask 255.255.255.0
DHCP device name : not set
*** Security
SNMP is enabled
SNMP Community Name: public
Telnet Setup is enabled
TFTP Download is enabled
Port 77FEh is enabled
Web Server is enabled
ECHO is disabled
Enhanced Password is disabled
*** Channel 1
Baudrate 9600, I/F Mode 4C, Flow 00
Port 10001
Connect Mode : D6
Auto increment source port disabled
Remote IP Adr: --- none ---, Port 10001
Disconn Mode : 80
Flush Mode : 00
*** Expert
TCP Keepalive : disabled
ARP cache timeout: 600s
Monitor Mode @ bootup : enabled
HTTP Port Number : 80
I have the UDS-10 set to DHCP in the router, I can ping it fine from my PC, and I can access the device installer from my PC.
When I load bobterm 1.22, I get the load 2sec beep for the 850 driver, but then I have just a constant high pitch beep that changes pitch depending on the baud rate
When I try to "dial" out in terminal mode, I get a "NO CARRIER"
I am kinda stuck at this point so any help would be great!
Thanx

I struggled as well but my first problem was not having the correct serial cable but it seems you are using a official Atari serial cable so that's one problem down. 9600 might be too fast. Try dropping it down to a more reasonable 2400 baud. I can look at my settings when I get home tonight to compare them to your settings.

I use

Baud 4800

connect mode 56

disconnect mode 81

Connect Mode Options for Modem Emulation

With DTR Echo 56
Unconditionally Echo D6
Unconditionally Without echo C6

give that a try..

make sure you use ascii to dial out then switch to atascii until you get the hang of ctrl m ctrl j

be careful of bobterm versions, one of them is made for emulators and will give varied results on real hardware...

what bbs are you trying to connect to?

pm if you wish remote uds help/config/support.

You Should Not Have a Remote IP port set! and no remote IP address either!

what are you using as your dial string?

uds 10 can not use domain name...

you must use ip numbers

ie

ATDT 73.154.49.234,10001

ATDT 73.154.49.234/10001

ATDT 24.22.120.147,9000

ATDT 24.22.120.147/9000

When using a sio device such as the PR, Rverter, or 850 you will hear the noise, the tone is the baud rate so to speak, on and 800 they used to send noises to the internal speaker and not the tv/monitor so you either didn't hear it or turned the volume down... 96,000 is something I got used to and the lower bauds as well....

I believe there should be a way around it but it's not been dealt with ever.

I use PBI serial ports (MIO/BlackBox) with my gear so it's silent... with normal volume setting et all.

Yes, some lantonix devices do not give any reasons other than error and no carrier,

perle devices give busy, no carrier, and error etc.

mss100 etc can be configured to give a little more info than uds and can use dialing of domain names
