ParanoidLittleMan #2 Posted June 30, 2019 I don't have NetUsBee, and I don't think that you will be , pardon Atari (even Falcon) will be able to handle properly something like some modern Internet forum. It needs much more CPU power, memory, speed. And I even did not mention video. That 'you will be' should be: .. able to set it up to work .
rcamp48 #3 Posted June 30, 2019 Again it limits me to using the PC which a lot of users don't like , but it looks like I am forced to if I want to run an Atari BBS and have any decent connection speed, I already have Renegade set up on my 32 bit PC. At least I can set it to use atascii instead of ansi.
+Tillek #4 Posted June 30, 2019 I thought we had this discussion before..... but to put it simply... it won't work. You're playing apples against oranges here. Forem ST wants to talk to a modem. NetUSBee with STing is not a modem. If anyone had written a virtual com port for the ST, that might work, but to the best of my knowledge, no one did. You could also totally re-write Forem ST. Without the source code, that's probably not going to be easy. So your options are, dropping $20 on a Lantronix box, using TCPSer, or using one of the other modem-emulation to telnet options like the rest of us who run telnet BBS's. rcamp48 #5 Posted July 1, 2019 I actually have a connection locally, and I have a disasembled source for Forem Tos, soI will upload it tonight and I saw something in Forem ST that says it supports LAN , I could be wrong , but have yet to give up , I am playing around with the source code and may be able to do something, I have also contacted Matt Singer about the latest version that incudes 7 door programs, ansd the decompiled source code, I will send it to him and ask him to modify it as it is his source code, for now I have verified that my BBS works on dial up, ne caller ata time , just like it used to be in the 80s, with an authentiice door system, files are coming later on, I have lots of work to do on it, I did connect my Atari Portfolio to my Atari ST from 20 miles away, it works as dial up. Again the phone number is 1-226-647-0710. What I am going to do today is go through al of the PC programs fro TOSEC , and see if Forem PC might be there , its like llooking for a needle in a haystack, but who knows? Maybe I will find it. If anyone else wants to do the same and search through over 45,000 disks connect to my Mega Site and download all of the PC stiuff, I would assume its there as it is a PC program, you can also liik in the ST library in the collections section. rcamp48 #6 Posted July 1, 2019 No luck it is not there, I put up a 20 US reward for the first person that finds Forem PC on Facebook, you never know if someone has it.
