+BeefMan #1 Posted June 26, 2003 Been reading this great book about John Romero and John Carmack and how they started Id Software and thier seperation, very good book so far. As I was reading I was hoping there might be a mention of Jaguar Doom. It does mention that Atari paid Id Software(Although I think it was John Carmack that did most of the work) $250,000 for the port of Doom on the Jaguar. Kind of an interesting little tidbit, dunno if it has been brought up before. I wonder if Atari ever made that $250,000 back. I was hoping it might mention what Carmack thought about the Jag port or what he thought about it not having music but nothing like that was mentioned unfortuneatly. One of the CES or E3 videos (I think it was CES at that time) has some short interviews with the guys from ID and how they thought the Jag was really powerful, etc.
jaysmith2000 #6 Posted June 27, 2003 Back in the early days of e-bay, John Romero was bidding against Julian Eggebrecht (president Factor 5) for one of my HUGE Atari 2600/7800 lots. I guess owning a software publishing house for Lucasarts is more valuable then being co-creator of DOOM. Julian won in the end for a cool grand.... It was the talk of the newgroups back then, that was BIG BUCKS for Atari stuff! Side note, I delivered the goods to Factor 5 directly and Julian "clued" me in on this TOP SECRET game they were working on for the Nintendo 64. Figured it out???? Rogue Squadron. heh! I dunno. They probably weren't made to be given away on the internet. They were sold to people. Posting them to the internet would be copyright infringement.
