I was wondering why a NEW set of ROMs for the console hasn't been adopted. Is it because they would have to be GPL code? Is it because of the "odd/even" way they have to be read? Or just plain not an option? Lol just a question.

Yes, but they are not commonly owned. :)

(Also, I assume he meant the CPU ROMs... we have lots of ways to replace the GROMs ;) )

It would break a lot of software, including fbForth, because they depend on routines like SCANKEY (calls KSCAN) residing at specific locations byte combinations in the current console ROM. Also, the ROM itself depends on convenient byte values scattered here and there that were used to save precious memory.

It was just a thought. I mean not many people are Willing to go through as much to cut a lead and add a card or what have you.

Here's an old post(the oldest!) that mentions a GPL interpreter simulator.

I remember when this subject seemed so amazing!:)

The CF is a Floppy Disk Simulator not GPL.
