5200 Star Raiders ever ported?

I thought 5200 Star Raiders was ported from the 400/800 version in the
first place?

I haven't played it on the 5200, just going by screenshots I've seen
and this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cVg604AAk0

Looks identical to the 8-bit computer version, to me. Are there any
differences in gameplay or graphics that aren't obvious from the video?
Looks like all they changed was the controls.

Matt outlined some of the differences over at AtariProtos:

Since the 5200 was pretty much the same as the Atari 400/800 the port was basically identical except for the controls.  However, programmer Joe Copson took the time to clean up some bugs that were present in the original version and even added a few new features.  The biggest differences between the two versions are:

  • The Atari 400/800 version always says "Star Cruiser 7 was destroyed by Zylon fire" when you die even if you were destroyed by an asteroid. The 5200 version fixed this by adding a new message.
  • The Atari 400/800 version used slashing dots for all the objects on the Sector Scan while the 5200 version used distinct icons for each object.
  • The Atari 400/800 version had digital control, while the 5200 version fully supported the 5200's analog sticks.
  • In the Atari 400/800 version players had to manually switch to Fore View once hyperspace is engaged on the Galactic Chart. In the 5200 version the game switches to Fore View automatically.

They are a little different.

I played the crap out of Star Raiders on my 800 as a kid and have both the A8 and 5200 carts today. The only differences I've ever seen are the analog controls for pointing/aiming in the 5200.

I'd played the 5200 version on the Atari Classics (switch) and I did notice a bump up in the graphics and as Matt pointed out, some other additional perks.

Granted, I think apart from the Galactic Map and Long Range Scanner, the graphic differences were not that noticeable, but it'd sure be nice to see this with the other 5200 ports.

Thanks for the info above, appreciate it.
