Black / Brown Intellivision II Controllers

Recommended Posts

In a UK Intellivision ECS flyer, there is a photo of black/brown Intellivision II controllers.  Did these ever exist?  My guess is 'no' but I'm curious nonetheless.

They were announced in an German catalog too, but only with a drawing.

I assume that are mock ups in the photo.

I never saw them then or now and I'm born and raised in the UK. Pretty cool though.

It looks like the keypad has raised buttons as well or is that just an illusions?

It looks like its even the red and black flat keypads in there. So this would be pretty easy to recreate with some brown paint or dye.

In the first photo, they appear to be connected to a prototype Inty 2, so it was probably just a prototype design.

I don't think they ever existed but I know that I really want them to now.

🤔😁

They're connected to the European version of the ECS, which differs from the US version by being brown and by having it's serial baud rate generated adjusted for the PAL clock rate instead of the NTSC clock rate.

Are the discs interchangeable between intellivision ii controllers and original controllers?
