hanglyman #1 Posted June 29, 2003 I stopped at a pawn shop the other day to look at their bikes, I looked around a bit and spotted a stash of about 40 carts, I asked the guy how much they were "2 or 3 bucks depending on which ones" I picked out 6 and offered him 10 bucks, he says 12 bucks, I say cool Now for the good part, among the 6 were Pengo and Cosmic Commuter My best score yet!! MegaManFan #2 Posted June 29, 2003 Congrats. Cosmic Commuter was the last Activision cart I needed and I picked it up for a paltry $6.51 on eBay. It's not the easiest game to get! Pengo's a nice score too - I only have it for 5200.
NovaXpress #3 Posted June 29, 2003 I went to an Omaha pawn shop the other day. I found an cake mixer with only one beater. Omaha thrifting sucks.
JB #4 Posted June 29, 2003 I went to an Omaha pawn shop the other day. I found an cake mixer with only one beater. Omaha thrifting sucks. Heh. I need to do another thrift store raid. Local pawn shops in my area are good for Sega Master System, but not much else.
Ehrbad #5 Posted June 29, 2003 I hear what NovaXPress is saying.....pawn shops in my area only sell junk and antiques.... but no Ataris!
SS #6 Posted June 29, 2003 I'd have paid $12 for the Pengo alone. Nice find!
King Atari #7 Posted June 29, 2003 Very good find, I need some finds like that around here.
ATARI TROLL #8 Posted June 29, 2003 That rocks. I have found that some Pawn shops only collect games as early as Nintendo. Wheres the justice in refusing to buy Atari off some Schmoe whos collection could be sold to the rest of us who do care about Atari games. Nice find especially for a Pawn shop. If it doesn't have thrift infront of it, I usuall can't find it. I did get lucky the other day at a garage sale. 2600 Jr, Woodgrain, Vader model, 40 manuals, 3 carts all for 2 dollars! Those titles you have are great. Hope everyone here finds a good score in the near future.
surfnmadness #9 Posted June 29, 2003 Yeah, Pawns in Omaha suck bunghole wind when it comes to E-games. Most go sell them to local placed that pays $$$ for them as credit towards their other used games, sold at near new prices. Unfortunatly, their 2600-5200-7800-intellivision collection fits on a table about 2 foot X 2 foot. We need a 4jays to open on Omaha!
hanglyman #10 Posted June 29, 2003 I have found that some Pawn shops only collect games as early as Nintendo. It's pretty much the same around here, many don't even bother with anything older than playstation. I was quite suprised to see them especially the Rare ones. My rarest cart before Pengo was Inca Gold, and it's not much fun to play Good Luck!
broncoman #11 Posted June 29, 2003 i paid 20.00 for mine but i love pengo
SmileyDude #12 Posted June 30, 2003 Omaha thrifting sucks. That's odd -- when I lived there, I thought that the string of thrift shops in South O. was the best I've ever seen. I was always able to find Atari stuff there. Now that I'm in the Boston area, I have yet to find anything even comparable. The thrift shops are the only thing I miss about Omaha
MegaManFan #13 Posted June 30, 2003 I think we Omaha collectors have long since dried up the thrifts in this town. I'm casting my net as wide as Lincoln now, but I came up pretty dry on my last trip there too.
Ehrbad #14 Posted June 30, 2003 Man, there seems to be disproportionate amount of collectors from Nebraska on this site! Just how many of you are from Omaha?
ATARI TROLL #15 Posted June 30, 2003 theres a few left here in Wichita KS in the thrifts but they too are drying up.
MegaManFan #16 Posted June 30, 2003 Man, there seems to be disproportionate amount of collectors from Nebraska on this site! Just how many of you are from Omaha? I can think of at least a half dozen people on these boards locally (within the metro or the suburbs) including at least one person who doesn't post but does program (Bob Colbert, author of Okie Dokie). Sometimes I wishfully think there's enough people here for an OmahaCon, but then I realize most cons cast a wide net to get attendance to cover their expenses.
