TIroubles as they age?

What sort of troubles (if any) have you had with your TI console?  The poll below cannot get specific, so please give details and solutions below or links to them, if you have them.

Opening the case and as I removed the keyboard, the ribbon wire ripped..

That was to repair a dirty port connector(cart port). And to do a cleaning as this particular computer was filthy!

The troubles my boyfriend and I had with his original TI is well-documented on here, but for those not wanting to necrobump the relevant thread(s): It was sitting in a barn for years, and despite cleaning it up the best we could, we got a black screen with no sound from it. Tried several attempts to replace parts to get it to work (thanks to the generosity of people on here), but it failed, so Ksarul sent us a working one, and we traded away the non-working parts to ArcadeShopper for games and controllers. The funny thing was, after one particular repair attempt, it worked for about 15 minutes, but then locked up and refused to work, anymore. I always wonder if ArcadeShopper managed to get the time to get around to looking at the old parts and find a way to get them working, again...

Not sure if Video Output is the same as bad video RAM so I chose both Video Output and Other, since it may not have only been the video RAM.

Thankfully have not had to do any repairs.

Opened it up, did a general de-dusting, inspecting, put it back together, still ticking along.

The power switch (not the power supply) i think is getting a little worn out, but other then that and modern upgrades like TIPI, its basically in tip-top shape.

There is a slight scuff and minor dent in the metal case, but hardly anything to worry about.

If i repair or replace anything on it in the near future, it will probably be to remove the keyboard in favor of a external keyboard mod.

For right now though, my mechanical keyboard is nice and responsive, each key giving a happy click when pressed.

A very necessary service!  I'm glad you are doing this for the community.  You saved my butt with one of those too.  Those original ribbon cables are old and brittle, it's a common problem for them to self-destruct.

One of the easiest fixes was to pop an F18A in.  When the next version is released I'm sure it will be again.
