Yep.  That is an Atari 400 with a 'B' keyboard.  It was an aftermarket device that just sat on top of the original membrane keyboard.  Ugly but it worked and didn't require you to open the 400 and void your Atari warranty.  Computer Image, an Atari store here in South Florida, used 400's with B keyboards for their cash-register/sales.  It was neat to see the machine being used for a serious purpose.

Best,

Jeff

Certainly not the B keyboard.  That was a professional product, fit the machine 100% beautifully, and replaced the turd of a membrane KB.  Whatever that abomination that glued atop of the original machine, is not fit to clean the poop off of a long out of service B-Key!

Oops.  I guess it has been 30 years.  Sorry to mis-id the B.  This applique' keyboard still works fairly well, at least compared to the unadorned membrane.  Ugly it is.

IIRC the price difference between the internal replacement and this bolt-on was pretty staggering.  I was a tween when these were at Computer Image.  I haunted that place, loved it.
