Live from the Shark Tank, it's INTV Bowl VI.  The Intellivision Football League championship game between the Mutants and the Bombers!

We have a first this year: this is the first time two past INTV Bowl winners have faced off in the league championship game. The Mutants won the first INTV Bowl right here in this arena in 2014. The Bombers won INTV Bowl II in 2015.  Both teams have had some rough seasons since winning their championships, but they have both fought their way back to the top of their divisions and reach this game today.

The Mutants come into the game with a 6-3-1 record.  They were hot in the first half of the season with a five game win streak but quickly turned cold with a 1-3-1 record in the final five games.  They only became Action Network champions because the Beamriders failed to win their final game.  Their offense is one of the best in the league, and their defense ranks second in the league behind the Bombers.  They will need that defense to return to first half form to win this game.

The Bombers had an even bigger win streak during the season, winning seven in a row before losing their last two.  Their offense ranks second in the league, slightly better than the Mutants, and their defense was the best in the league, giving up 14 points at most during their win streak.  They too need their defense to stand firm today.  Both teams are relatively evenly matched overall!

The Bombers are the home team, wearing their brown and black uniforms. We're under 30 minutes from starting!

It's been another fun season!  Let's review:

Mutants
They made some adjustments in the offseason and went crazy this year winning their first seven games before hitting a three game skid at the end of the season.  Their offense and defense ended up being some of the best in the league.  They edged out the Beamriders to return as Action Network Champions and reach their first league championship since 2014.  They faced the Bombers in INTV Bowl VI, where the Mutants pulled off a stunning 4th quarter rally and a 23-19 victory.

Beamriders
They were another rebuilt team that had a good first half, winning their first four out of five.  They fought the Mutants for first place in the second half, only to lose out in their last game.  That game ended in a tie against the Smash and they missed first place on a tiebreaker.  A heartbreaking ending, but a good sign for the future.  Both offense and defense will need some improvement to take the network title next season.

Laser Sharks
They were inconsistent again this season, ending with the same record as last year.  Most of their games were lopsided, either big wins or bad losses.  Offense and defense were decent.

Smash
Another inconsistent team with big wins and bad losses.  Offense and defense were around average.

Killbotz
The back-to-back league champions were shockingly awful this season.  They lost their first seven games, some in embarrassing fashion.  They scored a lot of points in some games, but their defense just could not stop their opponents.  They did manage to get a couple of wins near the end of the season, but they need a lot of work.

Bombers
Another rebuilt team that took charge this season blasting off with a 7-1 run.  Much like the Mutants, they ran out of gas at the end of the season and lost their last two games.  Their defense was the best in the league and their offense was one of the best.  They returned to the league championship game for the first time since 2015.  They dominated the Mutants for three quarters in INTV Bowl VI, then were shutout in the 4th quarter for a disappointing loss.

Armada
They improved over last season, but were still inconsistent.  Most games were close, defense was one of the best in the league, but their offense was average.

Spartans
They had a decent first half but went inconsistent later on.  They were a team of extremes: their offense was by far the best, but their defense was by far the worst.

Deadly Dogs
The defending Battle Network Champions didn't quite have it this season.  Their offense and defense both ranked near the bottom of the league.  They had a bad start to the season but evened out in the second half and kept their games close.

Destroyers
Instead of doing the destroying, they were the ones who got repeatedly destroyed.  They had a six-game losing streak mid-season which they were somehow able to break thanks to the slumping Mutants.  Offense was the worst in the league and defense was 2nd lowest behind the Spartans.

As always, thank you fans for the support!
