Why does the disk access light stay lit

after booting Llamatron, both versions 512K and TRON1MEG?

 

This can't be good for the drive!

 

And I love this game!  why oh why?

 

I even have a 512k version straight from England that does the same thing.

There are other games with this flaw too. But it harms not disk drive, because light on means not that motor is active - you can check it with your ear.

Btw. Atari ST floppy code in TOS works so, that motor is stopped 6 rotations after finish of last operation. That works only if floppy light is on - drive is selected.

If some error deactivates drive selection line too early motor will not stop at all - that's worse case.

This might be wrong but I thought that there used to be demos that would flash the disc access light in time to music? Would not surprise me to think you'd see something like this in Llamatron considering it's from Jeff Minter. ?
