Use the GIMP, posterize it down to 4 colors and export a .png, and it can be used in 7800basic via incgraphics.  That's how I do it.

You can use now use Paint.Net on Windows. Used it just a few days ago for Arkanoid ?

The ‘Atari Player Editor’ format can be chosen in Aseprite?

Atari Player Editor is a separate editor, many developers I have worked with, prefer to give them the sprites in .apl format,

it's easier for them to import them directly in the code.. or something like that !

It is developed for the Atari 8-bit, I don't think it can be used for the 7800..

I tried my own sprites with Bentley engine, but this one is too big

Yeah, I think Bentley has 8 pixel wide sprites..

but if you check my pacman in post #67 it's quite possible to squeeze them in and still look good !

Bentley animation consists of 2 frames (running / walking) instead the animation of Pac-Man is composed of 8 frames (running) + 8 frames (walking).

In general, there are too many differences, therefore the game engine should be updated (IMHO).

You can try this, if you get it to work.

Here’s a 2 frame PacMan(running) you can try.
