They could have superimposed the screenshot over a blank TV. They used to do that for magazines all the time as it was difficult to take real screenshots with a CRT. It's weird that some Atari VCS stuff just can't be found, (let's say, nowadays) eg the Spy Hunter Dual Control Module, Eli's Ladder extra paperwork, Pole Position Grand Prix kit and wall chart.... Not weird at all, like most accessories that stuff generally got lost or thrown out. This is especially true for stuff that isn't required to play the game and was just an extra thing.
