Lendorien
Haha. I feel so lame. Rarest thing I own is Adventures of Lomax for PS1. Not nearly as notable as a lot of the stuff people are talking about here.

Not nearly as notable as a lot of the stuff people are talking about here. You don't have to. I can't talk for all others, but the rare stuff I got was the work of long search and also a good deal of luck. For example, the Astrocade I got was sold as "untested". I was lucky it was working. The games were listed, but the Muncher cart had no sticker so obviously the seller couln't know it was this uncommon game. Also, the joystick I got with it is a number 4 stick - if you aren't aware, the Astrocade have 4 joystick ports and they sold joystick with labels on them. Obviously joystick 3 and 4 are the rarest! I think I paid 125$ (and probably almost as much in shipping) at the time, which was still a decent deal. For the Soviet machines I own, it was carefully skimming through eBay; after getting in touch with a seller from Ukraine, he got me private offer deals on 2 machines, which made me get those machine at "Eastern Europe" prices (an Elektronika BK in Russia sell for about 50/60$, but many Russian/ex-USSR sellers put them on eBay for 150/200!). I think I may have rare items I'm not even aware of them being rare, for the simple reason I got them for cheap or at ramdom in a flea market. Plus there is the geographical situation : in Europe, there isn't probably more than 50 Astrocade, so obviously any you buy is rare.

pablum
No game I have is actually what I would consider that "rare." Just some are being sold for more ridiculous prices than others these days. Top three are probably: Earthbound (SNES) - complete in a decent big box set Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn) M.U.S.H.A. (Genesis) I have more rare original video game posters than games. A nice version of the Joust poster. A nice R-Type poster. Also okay versions of the Centipede and Tempest posters among others. masschamber
eli's ladder other than that a few of the late neo geo games like matrimelee and sengoku 3 (my brothers said it was silly to spend 125 dollars on a game, I told him we should buy more copies of them)

I wouldn't say anything is lame, Rare stuff only comes from 3 things, buying it back in the day, lucking out and finding a cheap one, or dumping a bunch of money on it. Not really an accomplishment. though I will tell you finding something super rare is quite a lot of fun
Atari_Bill
Nobody should ever feel bad about their collection. If it brings you happiness, that’s all you can ask. Rare items or not, it only matters if it has meaning to you. 4
Tempest
Meh, to be honest most 'rare' things are just for looking at. They sit on a shelf and people look at them now and then and say "Yeah, I've got that", but that's it. You're honestly not missing anything.

cybercylon
I don't know if I really have anything that one would describe as "rare" if we are talking about scarcity. I have a few things that can get stupid expensive, but I think it is market driven.

I got it from the original owner who had it still in his 70s basment gameroom, very well cared for! I definitely have some stuff hollywoid prop houses would be hard pressed to find. I now have complete collections for every pre nintendo system except the 2600. (About 14 systems) I need about 8 usa games to finish 2600, but I wont hold my breath on finding most of them. All these collections are all cib too except for the 2600 and 2 intellivision boxes. And I have a cib complete 7800 collection too. I collect some nes and newer stuff too but pre nes has always been my focus....and cartridge based systems....im not into optical systems much. atarilovesyou
I've got nothing really rare...some cool stuff, but rare? Nope. I did have some rare-ish VCS games back in the 90s but they disapeared. And they weren't considered rare at the time, lol, just bad! The Zellers titles....a few other collectible stinkers. +save2600
Same here. When I was in turbo collecting (consoles & computers) mode, had loads of rare stuff, but sold or traded most of it away. I do remember trading a Condor Attack for Bumper Bash (which I still have) and some other game which I forget, back in the 90's.

Magmavision2000
Rarest things I have are probably my vectrex and my Sharp Twin Famicom. (These are more uncommon than rare, but I don't care)
MaazFench
My rarest are probably: 1) Adventure Vision (which I had thought was dead for about a year, but just came back to life yesterday (after cleaning the power button a bit)) 2) Dino Park Tycoon (NIB) for the 3DO (These are things I happened to get when they came out; I have never been lucky in finding rare things "out in the wild.")
