+sixersfan105
Likely a capacitor issue. If you know how to use a soldering iron, you can recap yourself. Otherwise, perhaps someone here on the boards will provide the service for a small fee. Good luck!

Honestly it sounds more like the video signal just isn't being tuned it quite right on the TV. You will get this with NTSC systems on RF to a TV when it isn't tuned in enough to pick up the full signal. How are you connecting from your Atari to your TV precisely? +SmittyB
I would agree that it sounds like it's not quite tuned in. If your TV has a fine tune option you might want to use that, otherwise use the automatic tuner while it's running something that isn't Asteroids if you can, if it comes up black and white again try scanning further. +mksmith
Actually I can sort of confirm what @SmittyB and @-^CrossBow^- are saying there. The first PAL 7800 I bought has the same problem so I bought a second one! After tuning in the second 7800 the first does now show colors once it has warmed up (still B&W on cold start). I guess the signal is quite weak. I've got a UAV ready to go into it so hoping that will help in some way.

With trial and error it's now somewhere in between so it has colour both cold and warm. I've tried a signal booster to see if it would improve the picture somewhat but no, the 7800's output is just rubbish.

astalavista4401
when the console is dismantled, without its insulating cage everything works normally and the color is working
ChildOfCv
Put the RF cage back on and lightly press on areas of the cage to see if it affects the color.
