What Jaguar games are best suited for the Arcade?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about various arcade/ports/systems of the Era the other day and was wondering what Jaguar games everyone thought could have made money in an arcade back then.

To my knowledge actual arcade ports on the jag are:

-Primal Rage

-NBA Jam TE

-Raiden

What else do you think would have been suited from the Jags library for the arcade?  I'd say off the top of my head:

-All the TK games

-Ultra Vortek

-Power Drive Rally

-Super Burnout

-Val D'Isere

Putting aside the fact that Jaguar was on the way out around the same time as arcade games, and that the ports that made it to the system were old games by then ... I dunno. Kasumi Ninja?

Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, World Tour Racing would fit in an arcade as well.

Tempest 2000 is too easy to be an arcade game. The operator wouldn't make any money. Defender Plus or Classic (from 2000) could maybe work.

Oh yeah; duh; both the OG Laserdisc Arcade games.

I hate to say it but Kasumi Ninja probably would have done okay in the arcades; just because of the goofiness/novelty of the characters, etc.

I can't remember the pacing for Blue Lightning CD. Was it arcade-style, or more "adventure" like, such as the leisurely arena shooters Cybermorph, Battlemorph, Hover Strike, Air Cars? It's weird that's almost an entire genre on Jaguar.

Oh yeah Blue Lightning would be well suited for arcades for sure.  Short missions; lots of explosions, etc.

Arcades of 1989 or so, anyway. Scaling games haven't aged well IMHO.

unless you also have a big hydraulic lifting chair shaking the player around

One of my Hope's was T-Mek or Area 51,both used co-jag so should of been easy.

Can't think of any game that wasn't an arcade port doing good in the arcade.

I Guess tempest 2k, defender 2k, missile command 3d, with the 3d helmet

I can't imagine Blue Lightning getting quarters back in the day. The game looks like it plays in slow motion compared to Afterburner which was out years ahead of it.

T-Mek was on 32x and developed by Atari....amazed this one never made it to Jaguar.
