Yes I had found them already and just finished a first test version for the HSC:

If you click a User, you can see all his (best) scores and Activision Patches.

ArenaFoot’s large homebrew spreadsheet also has a sheet devoted to patch scores.

I took a look and I really like it. It's a cool idea. I've been adding patch info into the game description section on the High Score page, but having them displayed for the user is a nice touch.

And just like us, every cheater is going to use the tech he is most familiar with, or every kind of tech is attracting it's own kind of cheater ?.

Anyhow if they really know what they are doing, it will be hard to sort them out.

But if the network requests are as bad as this:

grafik.png.aa800c077d06cb2669af27f2200bf6a7.png

We can ban them from the PlusROM HSC ?

Someone has got to start making drink coasters with this image. Better yet, lets have more games to make a set!

it was not a patch to "earn" - the first 30 copies of LEM sold had a patch inside the box (just like I, Project homebrew game had 36 included)

I vote for adding a virtual patch to all who try out the game. Seems fair for a game that did not require you to earn its patch.

I’m still upset at myself for not paying closer attention to the AA homebrew scene when this game came out. But I do own a CIB (minus said patch of course).

just wondering how does this thing exactly work?

PlusCart?  It has a wifi circuit board on the cartridge, and a microprocessor too.  The cartridge connects to your local WiFi network, and thus has access to the internet.  It connects through that to the online PlusCart website, which feeds information back to the cartridge. Stuff like menus of games that are available. The cart sends your selection back to the website, which then feeds the binary ROM back to the cart. The cartridge then talks to the Atari 2600, pretending to be a ROM so that the Atari 2600 can play the game you selected. It's all extremely clever.

More information about the website, which is called the PlusStore and is based on nextcloud and where you can store your own ROMs can be found here:

@gambler172 kindly made the patches for me (designed by @Brian O).

I donated them to AtariAge (and I devolved LEM royalties to AtariAge too).

As written by @Arenafoot, first preordered copies of LEM had the patch, it was not earned (but I think @sramirez2008 deserves a real patch for his high score).

@Al_Nafuur, if you plan to add a virtual patch to high scores, I will send you a file with the patch.

I would give it to scores =>100 000.

Regarding high score tables, I would remove 0 points scores.

I would love an actual patch. I'd be willing to pay for it too.  A while back I put an ask out on the Buy/Sell Forums but no one seemed to want to sell their copy, and I don't blame them.

I used the image from your L.E.M. thread, but maybe a more Hi-res image would be better for the detail view of the patch.

Yes maybe we will delete them in the future. Currently we have enough free space left in the DB to keep them (and the wast amount of 0 scores for "Amoeba Jump" and "Cave 1K" too).

I thought they might be useful for the new kind of statistics @Klemen wants to implement (if he still wants to):

In every player's stats, after game's Personal score, Ranking would be nice.

Rank for the personal best score is now shown in the "Player stats"

PlusROM HSC patches we show so far:

  • River Raid
  • H.E.R.O.
  • Pitfall
  • Crackpots
  • Kaboom
  • Seaquest
  • Stampede
  • Frostbite
  • L.E.M
  • Demon Attack
  • Atlantis
  • Barnstorming

Patches we don't have:

  • Enduro (we don't store the race day !)
  • Cosmic Ark (I can't find the Imagic Star !)
  • Dragonfire (I can't find the Imagic Star !)

Nice, looks like I have a new patch challenge to go for! ? I've scheduled L.E.M. for an upcoming show in the new year and I'll use the PlusCart to show off how the High Score table works on real hardware.
