Mehridian Sanders #1 Posted October 13, 2019 I just acquired the Speech Synthesizer and have been looking for a way to control it directly from the RPI. I am assuming that it is going to be a direct connection to the GPIO. Trying to see if anyone else has already done it but I actually went 2 pages deep in the google search, without luck. I will keep searching and share my findings, if any, here. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
+helocast #2 Posted October 13, 2019 There's code here which seems to be regularly updated and it could be adapted for 16 phroms, but I don't know why you'd want that many with TE II. https://www.waitingforfriday.com/?p=30
HOME AUTOMATION #3 Posted October 14, 2019 I imagine you are aware of this, I believe I've seen it run on an RPI. going-digital/Talkie
wierd_w #4 Posted October 14, 2019 That latter is quite interesting. Rather than controlling the speech synth, I think it would be more interesting to EMULATE it. Especially with a Tipi. One of the things I keep reading is how power-hungry a speech sidecar is. If you can avoid having that on the expansion, it makes sense to me... JB #5 Posted October 14, 2019 Is it? I never got the impression it was a particularly hungry device. It runs cool(not even slots in the case for passive ventilation), and is among the few things the expansion port can be trusted to power. I thought pretty much anything else you could do with that bus used more power than the speech synth.
Mehridian Sanders #6 Posted October 14, 2019 I finally acquired the speech synth. And it looks like it was never used. Almost have the code down for the teensy 2.0 usb connection. Thanks to the 2 other Matthews (Jedimatt42 and Matt Epler). If I can get the interface to work for the S.S. ... might be able to utilize it AND the keyboard for the RPI.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
