Superman's flickering was the biggest turnoff to me. But also BITD I didn't like adventuring puzzle games, I liked action more. I didn't really care for Adventure either, not until years later.  So Spidey was much more fun and cool to me.  But I think it could've used a bit more variety. Different girder layouts or something.

I'm surprised there's 2600 fans who don't like Superman. To me it's an essential VCS game that's fun.
