mark #1 Posted July 6, 2003 Right now im not registered as a seller but i have all positive feedback for buyer (10). Im about to put a KI2 and Street Fighter alpha 2 on ebay. As a first time seller can you give me any advice/tips on how to put these up. Anything i should know? I don't know if i want a reserve or no reserve yet. rpmxxipt #2 Posted July 6, 2003 How much do you really want to sell your games? That should tell you whether you want to put a reserve on them or not. You may get more interested bidders (who may help you my blowing their wallets) if you list at a nickel each, or you may get a bunch of crud bids that ultimately do nothing for ya. I think the main problem with your coin-ops is that they're going to be a bear to ship. Most arcades I've seen have specified local pick-up only by the buyer, which will certainly limit the number of legitimate bids you're going to get. That's the problem with pool tables and those neat United shufflepuck bowling games - they're so heavy that they're usually GIVEN away for the price of hauling. I've not (yet) sold something that BIG before.. if I WAS going to, I'd probably haul it into work in a truck, get it palletized and shrink-wrapped, and then see what sort of freight services are available for carting something that large around the country. I'm sure if you could even RENT a professional hand-truck with straps, there would be enough places in your area that could wrap your games for xcountry transport. I think if you did your homework and were able to offer a delivery package (even if it ranged into the several hundreds of dollars) for guaranteed delivery cross-country, you'd be miles ahead of anyone else selling standup arcades on eBay, which tend to be "Bring your truck and take this out of my basement." Some people may be lazy but have big pockets. I'm still young - when and if I get my first pinball game or coinop, I'll probably be happy to wrestle it from some guy's basement to mine.. but I'd be MIGHTY tempted to pay a couple hundred bucks to have that all done for me if the seller had some kind of system arranged. -rpm-
mark #3 Posted July 6, 2003 Het thanks for the help. Really helps. If i were to say for example i'd deliver 150 miles for x amount of dollars, how much should i charge? and should i request i must get paid in advance?
rpmxxipt #4 Posted July 6, 2003 Yes, unless you like getting paid with beer. I do But check out your local shippers - not UPS - and this means calling them up with an approximate weight, and giving them an estimated destination or destinations, just to give yourself a clue. -rpm-
