JagFest 1999

Since @KevinMos3 posted some recent strolls down memory lane, figured I might as well do the same!

I remember displaying the first ever footage and demos of some (at that point) unreleased games, such as Skyhammer, Total Carnage, Virtual VCS, and more. We had a Lynx tournament with Checkered Flag and maybe some other games too. @goatdan / Dan Loosen / Max / Gary were there in their pre-MGC glory, along with @K3V, @MegaData, Micah Rowe, Eric Mylonas, @Dan Iacovelli, and more that I am surely forgetting. Some traveled over 10 hours just to attend! I remember being super-impressed by @ZylonBane's mad Zero 5 skills -- he played the entire game in one sitting! Lots of fun, and we even had a couple of random local visitors who walked by and paid to come in just to check out what all the gaming was about. Great memories of a great community for over 20 years! :D

Hah.  Well, as I put my recap in the 2001 thread, guess I don't need to here.

However in addition, I do remember the Skyhammer reveal, I was there for that part of it!

I was just a random single attendee, didn't know anyone in advance or talk to a lot of people in depth.  But I recognized several once I started going to MGC!

Just a few years late... all the pics I posted above were from JagFest 1999 in Rochester, MN, including the group pic.

Another fun fact: back in 1999, I didn't know how to get a large poster printed. Thus I made the red/yellow/black JagFest sign by hand. Cut out the letters from red and yellow construction paper. Those were the days! ;)

Any interest in a virtual jag fest, such as through a 2 hour zoom call or something?  People could show off their elite gameplay skills in bigpemu, maybe there could be a live score attack or speed run for people who start their game at the same time (or checkered flag time trial, etc), developers could show demos of things they are working on to a live crowd, etc. Maybe an organizer works out a schedule of events like this in advance and manages the screen sharing so it's not just a Hodge podge of 20 people talking and playing random games simultaneously 😅

If I'm hosting an event, it would be in MN.

Oh man.  If it's also open to fans who weren't there for the original JagFests, I would be pumped to attend something like that.  And with a little notice, a summer event in MN would be very doable for me.

Who wouldn’t love to use a Time Machine to shop at the 1999 tables again. 😊
