Nice !!

No doubt this game, with its intricate detail and micro-contrast on textures will shine on LCD displays. These will be the way to go for this type of content, and also the perspectives and on-screen layouts, which will look much better without geometric / barrel distortion.

As for CRT, they should also look good as long as the actual CRT display offers DEEP blacks, good flatness and excellent linearity, like a Sony PVM or equivalent, and close to 19 inches.

Since when do (cheapish) LCDs offer deep blacks ? Or vivid colors ?

You can have your LCD's, for retro gaming I'll stick with my Sophia RGB and Bang & Olufsen MX8000 26" CRT, no matter what game you trow at it. Here's my picture...and as you know it's hard to take a good picture from a CRT.... (this is NTSC by the way).

I love both.  CRT gets my vote for the old systems because that's what I grew up using them with (obviously - we had nothing else).  LCD is just great for limited desk space and easy traveling to shows.  Also, the geometry is always dead on precise.  No pin-cushion, trapezoid, convergence, etc. issues.  However, I still say CRT cannot be beat for smooth scrolling whether 50 or 60Hz displays.  Horizontal and vertical scrolling will never be as smooth.

I can not wait... ;)

So what's the difference between this version and the previous cart version you did ?

Why no autoboot ?

Btw I now compress everything with APL (previously it was just the main executable)... my target was a 127KB disk but since it couldn't fit, I switched to 180KB one... some files are smaller, some bigger but I'm not sure I'm losing that much space compared to zopfli.

Anyway, it'll be much faster to decrunch and the decompressor is 200 bytes smaller. I'm using Elmer's version which takes a few bytes less (but uses ZP) compared to yours.

the difference is that previously it took 5 minutes to prepare a card version of a .atr program using xBIOS, this version takes 3 seconds.

of course, the game can be autostart ... see the movie description ;-)

.atr? have you AVG with SIO cable?

Yeap.. and the lead's fully working as I've used a few other ATR files.. I got the POP file from here but I am using it o a PAL machine. I tried the OPTION button but it came up with a file select menu and I Tried the BIN file.. I'm not familar with Atari file extensions though..

Unless when on the black screen, I'm suppose to wait..

Just took it's time to (I suppose) decompress

don't worry - if you care about speed, the final version, if you want, you can run as AtariMax from AVG (if it emulates AtariMax Cartridge)
