Use of emulation

  1. 1. How much do you use emulation compared to real hardware for TI-99/4A or related computers (note: FPGA implementations and similar count as hardware)?

    • I only use hardware
      4
    • I use hardware most or the time and sometimes emulation
      12
    • I use hardware and emulation about equally
      12
    • I use emulation most of the time and sometimes hardware
      11
    • I only use emulation
      2
    • None of the above

I thought it would be interesting to know how many of us are real hardware users.

Please, understand, that my heavy use of emulation now, is a recent change this past year due to health issues.  Previously, since Christmas 1982, my TI efforts have all been on real TI- Geneve hardware.

I develop on emulation due to the fact that caring a TI-99+PEB+monitor to Panera is a bit cumbersome. :)

I present to you, this image of a guy I met at the local library, sitting at a table by the window coding on his TRS-80, which he had brought from home:

gosh, he should invest in a TRS-80 4p. It's only  26 pounds. 😁

My excuse for using Emulation is I have no way to repair TI99/4A hardware especially the Console itself or P-Box.

IIRC the 4P did not have a cassette port, which was how most people got sound for their games.

I use 100% emulation for the TRS-80 Model III.  There is a really neat little emulator for the Rpi that works for me.  For $5.00 it came with some games too.
