Season 16 Round 12 - Panic Restaurant

Something a little off the wall for round 12.  The score goes away after your last life so be sure to take note beforehand.

General HSC Season Rules:

  • To participate, just post a score to the thread. Anyone can join in at any time.
  • A picture or screenshot is encouraged when posting a score but not required.
  • The season is 15 rounds long.
  • Games will be posted on Sundays and run two weeks through Sunday at 11:59 PM CST.
  • No emulator save states, slow-mo, rewind, etc.
  • No cheats, e.g. Konami code, Game Genie, etc.
  • Turbo controllers are allowed.
  • No point pressing.
  • Round points are awarded according to the number of participants. Every player earns 1 participation point plus 1 point for every player they outscore. For example, if there are 8 players, the player with the highest score earns 8 points, second 7 points, third 6 points, etc. down to the last player who earns 1 point.

This game gets stupid hard, but for the wrong reasons.  There's so much flicker when there are more than a few enemies on the screen I can't tell if I'm near an enemy's hit box or not.  Then there's the cheap instant deaths (which was the norm for the time though), and then there's just some enemy patterns I can't figure out.  Those skewer enemies decimated my life repeatedly.  The level layout is kind of questionable too in spots.  Still, not bad for a first shot.  I've never played this before.

I guess people aren't paying hundreds of dollars for the flawless gameplay. I still like the quirkiness of the concept and looking forward to giving it a try.
