Thanks, Philsan.

Star Vagrant is already on the list.

The Rescue Expedition - yeah, absolutely :) Sorry, guys.

However, ZeroPage Homebrew has strict rules about not including "hacks" in broader meaning (updates, new versions, games with new levels):

- "AtariNet" is a game from 2015 :) It was updated in 2019 as "RetroNet", right?

- "Train 3" seems to be new levels for existing game engine.

- "Rodmän" - wasn't it officially released in 2018 and in January 2019 there was just an update?

- no new Robbo levels etc.

Yes, but coder's real name and team members were missing.

I have original commercial AtariNet 2015 (v1.0) release.

I asked the author what are the differences between AtariNet 2015 and RetroNet and he replied that for the most part, it's performance enhancements in the Atari version.

Therefore it must not be included in the list.

In fact the name of the game remains AtariNet 1.1 (see title screen), not RetroNet as advertized by author.

I think so: "You can play 25 brand new scenes while listening to new tunes. The engine got minor enhancements. As we are very proud on the success of the game, we decided to release a special dual-track tape version".

Not to be included on the list too.

Checked, you're right.

I've created this list of Atari 8-bit games, but remember that it's a joined category A8/A5200. That's why "Bosconian" for A5200 was not included as it's a port of an older Atari 8-bit game, and "Realsports Curling" for A8 is a port of 2018 Atari 5200 game.

If you know any A5200 released in 2019, please let know in comments.

I understand that this list is intended to appreciate the efforts of game developers. So we appreciate simple games written in Basic, but conversions no longer. It may seem that writing a conversion between A5200 <-> A800 involves adding one option to the compiler, but unfortunately it is not. That's all I just wanted to add.

Happy New Year.

@shanti77

These are the consequences of "merged" categories and of excluding the "hacks". If it would be just "Atari 5200 new games" category, there would be no such discussion. But in merged A8+A5200 world "Bosconian" for A8 was "new" and "Bosconian 5200" is a "hack" of the previous game.

Please discuss it with ZeroPage Homebrew, they organise this contest and final decision belongs to them.

Happy New Year.

Hi shanti77! As this is the first year we've included Atari 8bit/5200 games into the Atari Homebrew Awards we invite scrutiny of our categories and rules. We'll be making adjustments for next year as needed and as suggestions come in. If all goes well, we'll be looking into expanding into WIP games next year for Atari 8bit/5200 platform.

We didn't want to have two entries every time an Atari 8bit game comes out with a 5200 conversion (or viceversa) as they are essentially the same game. I definitely appreciate the non-trivial efforts that people go through to provide the game for both platforms but in all respects they have the same graphics, sound and programming logic. As the rules stand now we will only be counting the first release of the game as that was the original one to come out.

Hope this makes sense! ?

If you do that and people use your list as a reference for the years releases, they will miss the availability of some software that came out later. If you list it but mark it as "not eligible - xxxreasonxxx" or something that would make the list a valuable curation effort as well

Excellent suggestion! We usually drop games from the list but keeping them on with an explanation why they're not eligible is much better. That way people don't have to wonder why the game wasn't included, plus great for preservation as you said. ?

So what about including where a title was released, if it was for a compo or something, that would show up all the tenliners, abbuc software compo, silly venture, wapniak releases etc. or is that moving too far into cataloging?

I'm preparing such pieces of information. I'm doing it for Kaz Kompo 2019 (coming soon) :)
