Welcome to the tracker! Out of curiosity, did you mean Nightmare Creatures? I see there is a Nightmare Circus for the Genesis/Mega Drive but it appears to be Sega exclusive so not sure if it also exists on Nintendo 64.

Edit: Aha, I saw you moved the listing to Genesis. Then it makes sense.

Thanks. Yeah sorry I originally had it under N64 but I proofread it after I posted, and then immediately moved it to Sega Genesis. Nightmare Circus Pretty awful game to play, but maybe I didnt give it that much of a chance. 4 minutes of playing was enough for me.

Some of the Atari 2600 HSC entries hang on for another week. The Neo Geo AES/MVS does a strong showing and is only four minutes short of taking the systems title from the Atari 7800.

Ms. Pac-Man (Atari 5200) becomes member #418 in the 1000 Minute Club with a total of 1017 minutes.

lol as awesome as the Neo Geo is, I kind of burned myself out on it last time, so no Neo Geo this time. One of my friends who loves the Neo Geo and doesn't know I have one is coming over to my house today, though, so it will definitely show up next week for sure.

Genesis/MD
Arrow Flash - 22
Assault Suit Leynos - 13

^Yeah, the box says Assault Suit Leynos, but the title screen says Assault Suits Leynos. The rest of the series is Assault Suit and not Assault Suits, so I guess that's what I will go with.
Castlevania Bloodlines - 12
Gleylancer - 16

Atari 8-bit:
Pharaoh's Curse - 10 min.
Pharaoh's Pyramid - 10 min.
Pharaoh's Quest - 12 min.

PC Engine:
Bomberman '93 - 12 min.
Yokai Dochuki - 42 min.

VIC-20:
Pharaoh's Curse - 4 min.
Riddle of the Sphinx - 36 min.

So yet another week of Egyptian/tomb themed A8 HSC. Earlier this month I encountered the VIC-20 exclusive game Riddle of the Sphinx (entirely unrelated to the Atari 2600 game with the same title) and since I only found it archived as a TAP, I spent a good amount on trying to "crack" it to a D64, possibly even single file it. However after playing it for a while, both in emulation and on real hardware, I think it has way too much random elements to be truly enjoyable for further working on. Perhaps a modified version with changes to the code but right now I don't have the time and motivation for that.

I also dug out my/our PC Engine. The first unit I got cheap from Japan worked for a while until I plugged in my own RGB cable backwards and fried the graphics chip. This second unit I'm perfectly satisfied with composite video, but apparently I had connected the wrong pins so while I got a B&W image through RF, I got nothing on composite video until I looked up the pinout again. Some of the pins on the mating connector are a bit loose though, so I think I should invest in some hot glue to fix them into place. While I don't understand the Japanese dialog in Yokai Dochuki, after a while I started to figure out most of the gameplay and at least reached level 2 once.

ATARI 7800:

Here are my times for this past week (September 14th through 20th) on classic systems...

Atari 2600:

Private Eye - 42 min.

The only game I played this week was "Private Eye" on the Atari 2600 where I basically mapped out and completed the 1st case. That's all I had time for, though the other cases don't seem to be much different in gameplay, they just add a few other elements which aren't there in the 1st case.

My times for the week:

SG-1000:
Chack’n Pop -  798 min.

NES:

Cabal - 54 min.

Wheel of Fortune - 9 min.
Wheel of Fortune: Family Edition - 25 min.
Wheel of Fortune: Featuring Vanna White - 49 min.
Wheel of Fortune: Junior Edition - 9 min.

Beat all these games! Thoughts here. Defeating Chack'n Pop at last was a welcome relief -- another one to clear off the replay list -- while Cabal was unexpectedly easy.

A7800

Asteroids 101

Baby Pac-Man 42

Pac-Man Collection 14

Scrapyard Dog 141

Space Invaders 5

Xevious 57

More 7800 time from me.  I'd never really given Scrapyard Dog a chance before.  Side-scrolling platformers are really not my favorite genre, but there's definitely some enjoyment to be had, and I was surprised that I was motivated to actually go back to it during the week.

I keep trying to like Xevious, but I really don't.  There's something unsatisfying about it.  I think its the way that the flying enemies sort of tease you by flying in patterns to avoid you (at the beginning).  I can't remember the arcade version very well, but I think it happens there too.  There's also what seem to be invisible enemies and other shots that come at you from offscreen . . . The game doesn't seem that hard just kinda unfair.  I've still never actually destroyed the first boss tank thingy.  How do you do it?  Sigh . . . I wish the 7800 had 1942 instead.

A pretty excellent week for gaming around here this past week! While continuing my play through of the latest Doom II expansion on the Switch (and as a note to Carlsson apparently the Switch version is not called "Back to Saturn X" as I logged it last week, it's simply "BTSX Episode 1") I also spent quite a bit of time on Atari 2600 HSC games. I really enjoyed all 3 of the new homebrew games last round, and I've always loved paddle controller games so this current round is proving to be tons of fun and I'm sure next week's will be as well! For the spousal unit's gaming time this past week she did a full play through of Ristar on the Genesis for the first time and really enjoyed it. Ristar is definitely one of those often overlooked classics that any fan of the 16-bit era of gaming should check out, and now I'm thinking I might have to do a play through of it myself next week. :)

Ineligible

Doom II: BTSX Episode 1 (Nintendo Switch) - 370 minutes

Atari 2600

City Defence - 27 minutes

Circus Atari - 119 minutes

Ms. Galactopus - 20 minutes

Warlords - 38 minutes

Sega Genesis

Ristar - 234 minutes

Total Video Game Play Time This Week

808 minutes (13 hours 28 minutes) [438 minutes eligible]

Individual System Play Times This Week

Nintendo Switch: 370 minutes

Sega Genesis: 234 minutes

Atari 2600: 204 minutes

I didn't get much time for gaming in this week, hopefully this next week I will be able to play some more retro games.

NES

Legend of Zelda -     15 minutes        This is a classic game for the NES.Funny thing is after all these years I still have yet to beat this game, although I do have a save state where I was about 80 percent done with this game. One day I will beat this game.

Galaga -                    10 minutes        I remember seeing these arcade cabinets when I was a kid, although I don't remember really playing it. The funny thing is it wasn't really until over the past year that I started playing this game, and it is definitlely one of my favorites.

Castlevania Retold - 10 minutes         This is a very good hack for Castlevania, although I'm not sure you guys are counting hacks for tracking since they are not official releases.

Pacman -                    8 minutes          This is a great and challenging game, that I have yet to realize the patterns of yet. Either way it is a fun game to play, even though I'm not too good at it.

Sega Genesis

Columns 3-                  5 minutes            This is a very good puzzle game where I played against the computer. I think I need to get into playing these Columns games a little more to see which version I like best.

PS1

Konami Arcade Classics (Yie Ar Kung Fu) - 12 minutes I never played this game before this week. At first I didn't really like this game, but after getting used to the controls I rather enjoyed this game. I could not get past the "fan lady".

Funny thing is I never played this game before, but I just tried it out to see what it was like. Your right, the enemies just seem to avoid you in the beginning and it is not too fun to deal with. Maybe if I play more levels, it might be more fun later in the game.

Seems like you guys and a bunch others in this thread like to play the Atari 2600. I grew up with the NES, and I just never really played that system at all, I think i need to try to play it some to see If I enjoy it as well, as I have a couple of the Atari compilation sets.

Solar Groce 38 mins

I ask the same question as Atarian7 did. For now I assume that is some very strange autocorrect of Solar Fox, though it could be Solar Nexus, Solar Plexus or Solar Storm too.

Btw, after reading up a little, I'm listing Konami Arcade Classics as a PS1 game since it appears to be reprogrammed based on original ROMs, while Namco Museum Vol. 3 to a higher degree appears to be emulation of the original arcade games so that's the split for now.

I was 20 when I got the Atari back in 1981. Loved it and still do. I was a little old when the NES came out thought it was great. I played Tetris and Super Mario Every day for years But nothing else. I still have my original NES hooked up to a CRT and play it a few times a year. But with the Atari high score clubs I’m always on my 2600.

There are so many great games to play on the 2600 that I never got to try when I was a kid.  It was cost prohibitive.  Now I can get these games for $1 to $10 usually.

There's also the Harmony Cart which allows me to play any game I want to download.

My best friend had an NES and then the SNES and so on and so on.  He kept up with the times.  I played that when I visited him but for some reason I never had

any desire to get one for myself.

I know that this is the origin of the Gilbert and Schafer philosophy of never creating a no-win situation.  However, I want to say that I have indeed died in MM at some point.  I have a memory of being locked in the dungeon and getting a game over.  It seems like there are other ways to get killed along the way too.  You have to work at it though, they don't kill you easily.

Yes, it's possible to actually get all of your people killed by means other than causing the nuclear reactor in the basement to explode, I believe. I have only ever played the PC version, so I'm not sure if that got changed for console or whatever, though. I distinctly remember that you can drain the pool, move some people in it, refill the pool, and then they will drown. The most famous way, of course, is to cook the hamster in the microwave, causing it to explode (Yum! Should I take white or dark meat?), and then give the exploded remains to Weird Ed, who will kill you.

Thank You!  I knew there was something with the hamster, but I couldn't remember exactly
