Skippy B. Coyote
It was a pretty fun week for gaming around here this past week! The big highlight of the week was going to a local barcade that I had never been to for my birthday and playing a ton of pinball, as well as the 2015 Jurassic Park Arcade light gun game, Centipede, and the speed-up hack of Ms. Pac-Man. After that I continued my play through of DOOM 2016 on the Switch, and played through both the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic CD with the misses; swapping the controller back and forth between levels. For her gaming time this past week the spousal unit took a break from Tomb Raider III and did a play through of Splatterhouse 2 on the Genesis. carlsson
Blip of the week: Atari 8-bit: Mr. Do! - 8 min. So yes, I played 1 game on Monday and that was it for the week. Not that I was super busy rest of the week, I just didn't feel for playing video games. Also the entire Saturday was used for the yearly day of board games, consisting of 8 hours of Advanced Civilization and then another hour or so playing Alhambra. Sunday was spent on other tasks.

This was the only game I played this week.

Eltigro
Just a couple Playstation games for me... Breath of Fire III - 794 min (Played on three different days this week. Got through some dungeons, picked up some weapons, did some fishing, did some grinding... think I'm getting closer to the end, now, but since I'm playing "blind" I don't really know how far away it is. Maybe finish in the next couple of weeks or so.) Wipeout XL - 120 min (Used to own this one, but it got lost with the rest of my PS1 games. Just got this copy in from an Ebay auction. Strange thing is, though, the songs don't play all the way through all the time. It's like sometimes it just plays an intro of the song and repeats it. Thinking it might be some scratches on the audio portion of the disc, but so far, the game plays great. Also, I was playing it on my PS3. Need to try it on a PS2 and PSOne just to be sure it isn't something wrong with the PS3 playing it...)

Kurt_Woloch
Here are my times for this past week (March 2nd through 8th)... Commodore 64: Drelbs - 58 min. Wizball - 129 min. This week I continued to play Wizball on the Commodore 64, but I also started another game, Drelbs, which I haven't played for a long time. This one is somewhat less complex than Wizball, only being set on a static screen instead of scrolling levels. It's interesting nonetheless, and I played it for a long time back in the day. In the game, I reached the 3rd round... not sure if I managed to complete it, but I don't think so. Aside from that, I was interested in a few other things... how to program the AI for soccer players and a security circuit in shopping trolleys blocking one wheel if you leave the store with them. Turns out the electronics in the wheel use a chip which has a 8051 core, the 8051 of course being the successor of the 8048 chip used in the Odyssey^2 console. However that core runs at about 50 times the speed of the original 8048 (24 MHz with most instructions only taking 1 cycle). This set me on a search for how systems evolved over time. You could say that eventually, the TI-99 evolved into the Sega Master System and then into the Mega Drive and its accessories while the Atari 2600 evolved into the Atari 8-bits and the Amiga computers, and if you up the specs of the Intellivision, you get something very similar to the Commodore 64, which in turn was succeeded by the unreleased Commodore 65.
carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Bosconian - 119 min. Halfways through another HSC round, this time a reprise of a game we played in January 2018. I improved my PB but most other players score way higher which goes to show this will be a competitive year.
