Zap!
On my Apple IIGS, there was a nice solution on replacing those old soldered in, leaking batteries. With that computer, you cut the battery terminals and then attached alligator connectors to a battery holder with removable batteries. Is there anything like this for old PC motherboards with those barrel batteries? I have a 386 with one of them, and I don't want to solder another one in. Edited January 7, 2020 by Zap! mr_me
You see the jumper connector labelled battery between the battery and power connector in your photo; they use to make batter holders like yours with that connector. wierd_w
Indeed. You should also unsolder and remove that old battery before it destroys the motherboard as well.
DragonGrafx-16
This is the reason why I my current DOS PC has a Socket 7 board... it uses a standard CMOS battery (CR2032).
