We now have Monday 20th, so I suppose the voting should start really soon?

The voting plug-in used last year was for an older version of the forums unfortunately. A solution is being worked on and will be implemented very soon. Sorry for the delay.

In the mean time feel free to play through all the nominees to narrow down your favourites so you're ready to vote when the polls open! ?

Disappointed that no manual interiors were included in the Packaging category materials.

Agreed, I would have liked more packaging material too.

I agree. Next year we will be reaching out to each developer for all of the materials to be include for the packaging category. It's a little more work but I think it'll be worth it. This year we included only publicly available materials. See the amended rules below for the 3rd Edition (games released in 2020) to ensure we have a photo of ALL the materials included in the release.

Are downloads for best graphics, sound and <= 4K coming later?

It looks like they're all in the Atari 2600 Competed link, just not organized by category.

That's correct, all the binaries and instructions are all together in the Completed Games folder as they are eligible for multiple categories.

Surprised Tyre Trax wasnt included in packaging, last year only some box art was available, not the actual packaging with label and manual.

Tyre Trax was nominated in 2018 for Best Packaging and is unfortunately not eligible to compete again in 2019. We've amended the rules for next year (for games released in 2020) so that the game has to be physically released to compete in the Best Packaging category and the entries must be photographs and not renderings so to clear up any ambiguity. Here is the updated rules (so far) for 'Best Packaging' for next year.

Best Atari 2600 Packaging:

Nomination should be based on the quality of the packaging, manual, cartridge label and other associated promotional materials for a completed game during the year. This category is restricted to physical cart releases only. Games released in a physical form in a previous year are not eligible. Re-releases or updates to a previous physical release of the game are ineligible. WIP, Hacks and Demos are not eligible for this category. Each entry must include photos of all physical items, not renderings or mockups, included with the cartridge including the cartridge label, back/front/each page of the manual (if exists) and front/back box art (if exists).

Thanks James, understood & no problem.

For clarity, Tyre Trax only received a physical release with box and manual in 2019 at PRGE. The binary was released in 2018.

[edit]

Also the instructions included for Dare Devil are very out of date. The last edit to the development thread was 31st December 2019 so those instructions would be better.

Thanks! I've copied the updated instructions from the thread and will have them updated shortly in the Nominated Games downloads folder. ?

Not easy to choose for the homebrew Atari 2600: Best WIP.

I still hesitate between three games. ?

I know it's too late to do it this year and it would make tabulating the votes more complicated, but I'm wondering if it would be possible instead of voting for one game in each category to rank a top 3 or top 5 or something and award points based on ranking. While I have a far and away favorite in some categories, it's basically a coin flip in others.

I had the same problem last year already. The problem is the voting plugin, which would have to support multiply choices. It looks like such a plugin either does not exist or cost quite some money.

Alternatively there could be e.g. three votes per category (one for 1st, one for 2nd and one for 3rd vote). But these could be abused (voting for the same game three times).

If it weren't tied to the forums, you could easily do this with Google forms (or similar). But then you couldn't restrict it to AA members.

We definitely need some kind of protection. Else, due to our rather small community, the poll could be manipulated very easily.

Was thinking along that line pollcode.com but then heard what james said on ZPH that they want to keep result private until award ceremony then there is what thomas said keep it restricted to AA members
