Tonyscouter
When you open the 5200 the metal shield has an opening to adjust a red potentiometer, what is that for?
+DrVenkman
That red plastic item visible through the hole in the RF shield is not a potentiometer. It’s an RF coil that adjusts the audio carrier part of the RF signal. It’s very fragile, doesn’t adjust very much and it you do adjust it, use a plastic or ceramic screwdriver because anything conductive will affect the signal. There are two other actual potentiometers on the board outside the RF shield - the larger one is the color pot, the smaller is the POKEY adjust resistor, which affects calibration of the analog control circuit. orion1052003
I have a maker matrix controller and it doesnt work, but was tested and works with other 5200s. Do I need to mess with the potentiometer to make it work? The multicart menu goes a scrolling like crazy when i plug the controller in and i can't select or run a game. I can with the original controller.

Thank you for the information. I did a video mod to get composite out so I have no need to adjust the red coil.
