a few times in the 80s and 90s my family would move to malta for a while then return here to canada.

while in malta i recall only finding games for atari computers on casette and mostly pirate even though in stores.

a popular sighting were pirate copies labled buccaneer

recently bumped into a pic online of these buccaneer tapes thought ide share here in case anyone else ever knew them.

'buccaneer' - not unlike 'pirate'..!

an interesting tale and you have a few desireable tapes there ?

back in the day i got to know a guy who had a modem - as a kid it was amazing to see data transfer via the old pulse dial phone lines. i only had a 1010 cassette deck as a point of reference!

The main reason these pirate games stuck in my head is they were sold like this at every store on that island for many years. As a child I didnt even truly realise "piracy" I saw it as a brand lol

Similar situation in Chile. We grew up around pirated cassettes that were sold in the mainstream retailer stores, or copies of those done using those dual cassette boomboxes.

The only cartridge I knew in the early years (before XE era) was a Star Raiders cart that a friend of mine had, and that's it.

I bet it was the same in many parts of the world.

These are great! How many titles do you have and what are they?

It would be fantastic if you could archive them in .cas format.

I dont have these. Was just sharing a memory. Havnt seen these tapes forever.

I do have a cousin that should have some in Malta. Ill ask if they are available and if so I am willing to dump.
